A. Simon's Cat is made using Adobe Flash / TV Paint animation software.

Q. Why does it take so long to make each Simon's Cat film?
A. Even though the films are made on computer software, they are still hand-animated in a traditional manner, frame to frame. It usually takes between 12 and 25 drawings to create 1 second of a Simon's Cat film.

In the short time after high school and before leaving home to move over 2000 miles away I rescued a kitten. I had been on my way to the lake for some fishing. It was winter and really cold. This truck went speeding by and I saw the driver throw something out onto the roadside. I went to go see what it was and it was a positively cute little kitten that looked like a Himalayan/Siamese mix. I brought him home with me immediately - never did get to any fishing that day. :P My mother fell in total love with him immediately so he became her cat. He got along well with my cat though so often he was in my room. One day I bought some groceries and that included a box of catnip. I left the paper bag on my bed and shut the door behind me. I was gone maybe 10 minutes tops. When I returned the box of catnip was in shreds. I had catnip all over my blanket and the bag of groceries had also been spilled out all over the bed. :P In the middle of all that I found the kitten - now named Mocha - passed out. :P It was hilarious. I wish I had a digital camera back then. I would have taken a bunch of pictures. - Heidi

I love and hate this story: We had a power outage once and while I was going through a desk drawer for a flashlight, I left out a plastic bag of dried catnip on my desk. When I returned to my room I found the bag ripped open, catnip on the floor, and three very high cats rolling around.

My boyfriend's dad has a cat called Izzy. She's a beautiful little lady and every year she gets catnip treats. It's so much fun watching her roll around in her own little world when she has some, even if poor Dad gets her trying to clamber up his leg every time!! I love Simon's Cat, it never fails to make me smile.

I have a catnip crazy cat
In the story with him is his one day we bought a small bag of catnip to encourage him to scratch on the scratching post so they sprinkled a little bit of it and he was immediately "addicted" to the stuff so we put the little bag away in a cabinet so he couldn't get it that morning we left that evening we came home the whole cabinet had been cleared off the catnip bag was busted open he was laying on the floor covered in the stuff and our other cat was sitting there just looking at him like he was off his rocker it was by far one of the funniest things I've ever seen my cat do 😂

All 4 of my cats love catnip, but it’s Momo who acts like a bit of a mean drunk. They all get high, but then they get out of his way because he doesn’t care who he runs over when he starts tearing around the house.
