My Life on the Autism Spectrum with Jess Hendrickx

Показать описание
Welcome!
Through our SEN Explained Series, we humbly endeavor to move the needle forward in the field of SEN, and larger society, for more intersectional and progressive conversations around neurodiversity. Our speakers have first-hand knowledge and experience across special educational needs. We want to share their expertise and experiences to impact not only our families, but educators, academics, voluntary and statutory sector professionals, and the public-at-large for more equitable understanding, treatment, and practice.
Today's Talk:
Jess is an Autistic Speaker, Trainer and Mentor, and owner of Hendrickx Associates. As well as running the business and delivering informative webinars, she supports autistic people to build self-awareness, identify their goals, and together with the person take small, manageable steps towards them.
Jess was diagnosed as autistic in 2018. Her diagnosis brings a personal understanding of autism which she draws on in her presentations.
Jess will talk about her experiences growing up without a diagnosis but always knowing she was somehow different from her peers. With age, experience, and the knowledge she is in fact autistic, Jess will reflect, with humour, on her many short-lived intense interests, a yearning to fit in and getting in a whole heap of trouble doing so!
