“We’ve been tricked, we’ve been backstabbed, and we’ve been quite possibly bamboozled”. - Sassanid army, after the false retreat.

I like how they named their victory over the "king of kings" as the "victory of victories".

It's fascinating to see Tulayha, who suffered defeats at the hands of the brilliant Khalid ibn al-Walid use Khalid's own style of warfare against the Persians

I've become so addicted to the early expansion of Islam series that I watch the same videos again and again almost every day. Kings and Generals, please do more of them! Your content is priceless, absolutely priceless!

Can't help playing an armchair general and wonder why so many generals fell for the same tactic of feint retreat and ambush. Reconnaissance is probably an underrated aspect of war.

This might have been my favorite episode you've ever done. Firstly because I just didn't know how it would end based solely on the existence of modern countries. Both Arabs and Iranians exist in the Middle East today.

Second, the practicality of everyone involved. Nobody in the battle was foolhardy or brash. Everything cold and calculated. Even when the Sassanids fell for the bait, they did so incredibly carefully and even had the correct contingent plan to counter the trap.

So cool! I was seriously out of breathe and excited to see how this would end. Simply bravo for this episode, guys!

Truly, all the Sahaba are amazing. They not just change the history of their tribes and society, but they also change the history of the world

The Sassanids were grasping their dreams of restoring the Achaemenid Empire until Heraclius rallied the Eastern Romans and restored the pre-war borders. Then everything went downward spiral from there, starting with palace intrigue, civil war and then the Arab invasion. So close to touching the stars but they fell and instead became conquered. Great series K&G, as always awesome material!

I'm so sad there is no more of my man, Khalid al-Wallid. That guy was always amazing to learn about.

Like Sun Tzu said, deception is perhaps the strongest tactic of all time:

“All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.” - The Art of War

The caliphate's generals have cemented themselves in the annals of military history 🔥💪🏼. Almost always outnumbered, yet victorious.

Excellent video as always.

14:10 A minor inconsistency: the muslim noon prayer by definition starts after the sun was on the highest point (zenith). Consequently the sun can't be on the highest point after the noon prayer.

However, great video as always! This is one of the best series I have ever watched, keep it up!
