We use this tool on doorways. It's much more efficient than pre measuring everything and pre cutting. For doorways and window openings we have a much larger bit installed on the tool.

1/8 inch bit is for outlets. Use the 1/4 inch bit for doors and windows. Both 1/8 & 1/4 have the guidpoint, but they do also sell the 1/8" without a guidpoint so be careful when you buy them. Also The wood studs will break the 1/8" bit very easily. I used to charge my guys $3 fine for routering out a door or window with the 1/8".
I only have 40+ years hanging so what would I know?

Bit spins clockwise. Start on the other side and the bit will pull the tool along.

If u hang 3.5k 4k ft of board a day just ripping through drywall with this tool they last a year they are designed to fail the motor shaft has a bush bearing that grinds opens from the force of pulling upwards and side to side esc.if u clean them ones a month they last longer to.i said it at the very beginning when I bought my first combo pack the screw guns brushless but not the cut out tool????.why isn't it Well dewalt finally answered my prayers and will release (DCE555B) a brushless drywall cut out tool!!!FINALLY!!

I sheeted houses like that for years. Beefy Porter-Cable router eats the plywood. So much faster than snapping and cutting everything out. More accurate too.

Is this good for making plumbing repairs? For example cutting through drywall without hitting water lines and electrical

What if there was drywall on the frame, as in your cutting an outside corner and you don’t wanna ruin the drywall around the corner? I tried to use my rotary zip tool and my oscillating tool but it’s hard to get a straight cut.

It’s great in that environment but in a finished space the dust it kicks out ain’t worth it unless you have a vacuum in the other hand.

Everyone saying they don't use the guide are the same guys the electricians complain about in other videos that chopped up their wiring lol

Score the header with your knife so you only have a couple up cuts. Also a lot of waste to cut out the whole door. Guess it's preference depending on your finisher. Start from the other side and you don't need a guide.
