Today We make aluminum foil CB radio antenna and see if it works

We want decent SWR and we have to get a radio check

Johnny Jonesathome! excellent video you madcap crazy finger nail
Hopefully when the ss check comes this month I will be able to purchase a working radio.
If we got two retractable steel tape measures with broken springs could we use those for antenna?

hear are a few ideas: #1 5/8 wave vertical made from cans with a cap hat to bring the electrical length to 3/4 for 50 ohm resistive match, with aluminum foil or other metal sheet for a ground plane. #2 a 1/4 wave out of cans in the form of a sleave dipole. #3 a 5/8 ground mounted vertical made from wire & a cap hat to bring it electrical lenght of 3/4 wave with a massive ground plane going out 1/2 a wave made from random wire and metal. #4 a wire that is menny wave lenghts long strung horizontal cut to odd 1/4 wave lenght for a directonal antena! #5 a jungel ground plane up in a tree feed with 75 ohm tv coax! #6 a vertical wire 1.75 wave lenghts long over a maseve ground plane that exstends a 1/2 wave in all directions! # 7 a wire dipole feed with 2 wires in the form of twisted pair! hope this is gives you ideas the only thing truly intersting would be the can antenas but using odd stuff is a paine but wire antenas can be strange as well! cool vid!

One thing I've always wanted to do, but I've never done. Building antennas looks fun.

If I were a betting man (and I am, ) I’d be this would work great if the foil was wrapped and smoothed over thin pvc or even wooden dowel. The radiation travels along the surface, so a crumpled core and wavy structure probably makes the radiating point all wonky. There, I threw 2 pennies at it! 〰️〰️〰️➰➰

You should see my Homebrew 1/4 wave ground plane, it's just as hilarious looking. Made of pvc, copper tubing, 12awg. wire, and para-cord. But hey it talks! I have no meter so lord only knows what kind of swr. All I know is it works. 73 my friend, God bless you.

Johnny, you shouldn't hold on to the camera while playing with yourself!
I have made a dipole out of tin foil before for someone in a big raised block of flats, worked very well. Some of the things I have made antennas out if is crazy!

Years ago I heard one person on the radio claiming he was using an extendable ladder as an antenna. I didn't believe him but who knows?

How about Alligator clip jumpers, try making an antenna out of those?

Great video. Very interesting.
I dont think I'll make an antenna out of tin foil I'll save mine for some pyramid shaped hats. They seem to stop the voices.
Cant wait for the next video.Hope the back gets better i do know what its like. Very painful and hard to get comfortable.
