What if Titanic hit the iceberg head on?

This animation depicts an alternate reality, "What if Titanic hit the iceberg head on?" It has been argued that if it hit head on, it wouldn't have sank. This would be the case if the compartment doors closed before the collision. The animation shows the compartments being jammed instead because they weren't closed in time. Here is an explanation, for those confused. Titanic surviving or not a head-on collision depends on whether all the forward watertight doors were closed or not.

If the watertight doors had been closed in time, the ship would most likely survive, with its bow crumpled. However, people on the bow would die and Murdoch would have been condemned for such an act for the rest of his life.

Now, if the watertight doors had not been closed in time, the collision would likely jam them open. With the forward watertight doors open, water would freely flood the ship, causing it to sink. This is the scenario presented in the video.

What really would've happened: titanic strikes the iceberg head on crushing the bow until the mast one of the crew would've used the emergency water tight doors or the regular watertight doors would not be jammed in the middle of the ship which would keep her afloat so the only explanation that I would think of to happen was if one of the stokers opened all of the water tight doors then she would lose boinsy sinking her just like birtanic : good simulation tho 😊

What a buffoon. Bows are seriously reinforced because of this kind of situation. Smith and Andrews even asked Murdoch why he decided to turn. Several deck officers testified to that.
Just a couple years earlier there were as many as 3 ships that took serious bow collisions and limped to port. IF, titanic stopped all engines and ordered all watertight sections evacuated and sealed perhaps 300 or so would’ve died. But that isn’t 1700. Not that it matters now.
Just saying this myth has been debunked by several engineers. Including the engineer that designed the bloody ship.

It wouldn't really matter if the damage was 5 compartments it would sink head on or side collision.

First, Titanic would not have hit at 25 mph. They would have reversed engines. Second, they would have closed the water tight doors. This animation is if they hit it by surprise. So, sure, it would have sunk. The reason they thought it was unsinkable is they could not imagine a scenario where the water tight doors would not have been lowered.
