Grit is actually not needed for parrots. They already crack the seed shells with their beaks and they have strong muscles to grind their food internally. Birds like finches, canaries and chickens need grit, but not parrots, that includes budgies and cockatiels. If they eat grit too much it can be harmful to them. You can look it up if you want more information on why it's harmful and not needed.
