Lowrance Product Expert Jacob Scott walks through the basic settings, set up and interpretation of Active Imaging SideScan.

Check out this breakdown Active Imaging Color Palettes, Contrast settings, the SideScan screen, plus tips on identifying fish, navigating back to a waypoint saved to the side of your boat, plus sonar interpretation tips on recognizing bottom composition, laydowns and how far fish are from the bottom.

Active Imaging SideScan delivers views of structure and cover at a new level of refined detail up to 150 feet to each side of the boat. The high-level clarity, target separation and detail of Active Imaging will help you find more fish by making it easier to quickly identify fish-holding structure like rockpiles, standing timber, weedbeds, ditches and drop-offs.

Active Imaging is available as a 3-in-1 transducer with CHIRP, SideScan and DownScan Imaging or as a 2-in-1 transducer with SideScan and DownScan Imaging for anglers that already have a CHIRP transducer installed on their boat.

Truly amazing how you can get such a clear image of the passing shoreline with the boat sitting perfectly still. Don't get me wrong, I'm still probably going to get one, but it would be nice if the "in use" video would reflect the waves and steering variations you get when you're actually looking at live sonar, instead of a "demo" loop.

The Elite TI(2) units are really great units, I love em! I had 2 units of the first generation and now i have 3 TI2 9" units. They are awesome!

I am leaning toward the HDS live for now and the future. Will be using the Rhodan. Just setting up mud boat with 23 hp Backwater EFI.

Can you do a video for off shore fishing and explain the different transducers available for each model and the depth it is able to scan. I would like to see canyon drop offs and mark fish where the upwelling of nutrient rich water from the depths takes place in 1000-2000 feet of water in the Pacific Ocean.

Doesn't the Side Imaging side distance ALSO INCLUDE the distance to the bottom as part of the range you set. I.E. if in 25ft of water the side view is not 150 from your boat, but really 125 ft from your boat?

Hi Jacob. Just bought a HDS 9 Live with 3-1 tranceducer. Before I had an old 5 inch Ray Marine sonar, but this is a new World for me. Allmost everyone mount the tranceducer in the rear, but I will have it on portside for vertical fishing. I will be able to rotate 360 degrees. What can I expect with side scanning if the tranceducer is pointing to the left instead of pointing backwards? Is there any video showing how the image will apear compared to the normal situation with a black area in the middle under the boat?

When you mark a waypoint on something like a rock, does the unit do the math to triangulate it and place it correctly based on the depth of water and range to the object? Or do you need to make your waypoint closer to your boat to offset the depth component of the range? Thanks, I just got a Carbon and am excited to try it out

Привет 👋 👋! Jacob, thanks for the info! I constantly watch new videos on your channel, very interesting! I have a slightly off-topic question about Side Scan, but I still want to hear information from the first person) When will the Ti devices support Active Imaging 3in1 transducers and will it be?

Sorry, but, I still have TotalScan and this new FishReveal looks the same to me. Other than being able to make the bottom on down view a different color than the water column returns, I don't see a difference in detail from what I see on my TotalScan on the GO9XSE and I am still trying to master the settings

What a coincidence that the video was filmed over the hardest bottom they could come up with...

Is the two black side a blind spot underneath your vessel? Time 6:27 shows roughly that you're in 25 feet of water, the blue line also starts at that mark and goes outwards to 150 feet. Does this mean that you're blind to the bottom for a range of ~ 50 feet total between the left and right of your vessal?

Nice video. Would love to see HDS7 in action... And no, they are not the same (excluding obvious screen size).

Will a hook7 do side scan imaging if you purchase the transducer? And if so what transducer would be best?

Do you have a video for sea fishing and deep water for this unit or is there another that would be better? Depths of up to 350ft.

Is there any way to record what you're seeing and export it in some way?

Still can’t get the clear picture. Everyone always shows the clear picture it gives but no one shows how to get the clear picture.
