Just got the Brand New Lowrance Active Imaging HD 3-in-1 Transducer for the HDS Pro and HDS Live Units. I put it on my boat equipped with HDS PRO Units and bring you guys along with for my REAL UNFILTERED FIRST IMPRESSIONS - First Look using it On The Water.

Does it compare to the old 3-in-1!? Does it compare to an exclusive Side Imaging Transducer / Down Imaging? Let's find out.

As a dealer and installer I have run all brands for years and wish all companies could do Si chirp and 455 non-chirp on DI. Since chirp came out seeing crappie deep in the brush and tight to bottom is much tougher for all my crappie customers. Some of the competitive guys are running older Lowrance and HB Onix units for DI alongside their newer units for SI. The standard 455 on all brands gives fish as the old "football shape" vs the more "slash" of the Di chirp units. I still use the 455 chirp range for DI. It's surprising Lowrance choose to not have it an an option on DI. After many years of looking at screens I think it's still the best Di frequency.

Keep it coming. Lots of people depend on guys like you with that much time on the water to give honest opinions on what they're seeing. Lowrance does a good job, but it's hard to make buying decisions based on what you see from the guys making and selling them. However, when someone who could run any and all units they choose offers some insight with plenty time behind the screen, it's a much more practical assessment of what the units will and won't do !!!

The new HD 3n 1 definitely looks really good, Russell marine did a bunch of direct comparison with it vs birds mega+ & the GT56 & all the live sonars. Their all just so good now. Hard to declare a true winner in side imaging anymore!? The whole fish reveal thing seems kinda gimmicky to me. Maybe it's legit? But using software to say this is a fish instead of just using knowing how to interpret the 2d, down, & side imaging seems unnecessary. Exspecialy for the price tag that comes with fish reveal for side scan ducer& module! If you wanna add the new 3n1 to your live units it's gonna have a very high price tag for the ducer & module also, might as well get a new pro unit. Which is what Lowrance probably wants people to do.

Why are you using two graphs for side and down sir? I would use the 12 in that scenario for just mapping. I’m guessing you have the 12 dialed in

Been seeing a lot of interference with clumped electronics and wiring. Especially when u mix in forward sonar. Ferrite beads on all the wires going into the units and wrapping clumped cables with faraday tape helps

Is there good u tube video that shows where the best spot for transducer install spot on boat?

Something’s wrong with your rigging, or turn off down imaging. My buddy had his HDS 9 pro out with HD 3-1 and the side scan was the BEST pic I’ve ever seen. Granted if fell off around 60ft, but damn it was clear.
