I'm American and I prefer the British pronunciation of this word. I even "say" it that way in my head when I read it; I can't help it. I think it's because I watched Mary Poppins constantly while growing up and they use the word multiple times early in the film.

I say it the american english way and my English teacher got so mad at me and corrected me with the british way even though you are allowed to use american english in my school-
my English teacher is some weird sort of teacher. She doesnt use they for someone she doesnt know their gender she just uses "she or he". We get it marked as a mistake if we use they and not "she or he" which is very annoying
