I think Nikon has a hit on its hands with this camera. You hear a lot of comments section trash talk about Nikon getting out of the camera business etc etc. Not to say Nikon doesn’t have problems right now with its camera business, but putting a out a solid relatively-affordable APSC mirrorless camera is a good step forward.

I am surprised that not many big youtube channels cover the Z50 and the two new lenses. It seems that it is a great buy right now for a mirrorless APS-C camera.

This is a really relevant forerunner leading in the mirrorless future taking advantage of the wide and close lens mounts (Z, L, RF)

If you press the af-on botton while you rotate focus-ring, with any Z cameras or S-lenses, you will be able to manual focus with focus-peaking without Going to menu.

I bought this for my girlfriend, having both camera and lens.

Having over $200, 000 in Nikon's finest cameras, as well as lenses, your statement that "colors don't matter" within the lens is simply wrong.

Colors most definitely do matter, and the lenses that produce optimal and accurate colors most definitely do matter. (I've done side-by-side tests with the finest macro lenses on the planet, used on serious color-challenges, and the difference in *authentic* color fidelity (tested on the the same sensor) between lenses is staggering.

Anyway, that said, I agree the Z 50 is one helluva value—and, despite its cheap feel, the Z DX 16-50 mm is also a helluva value. Thanks.

Would be intresting to see the performence of the nikon Z FX lenses on the Z50 and the DX lenses on the Z6 or Z7

I have the z50mm 1.8s and the z26 2.8. Didn't want a z kit lens, but used, these are cheap now. Would be nice to have a little focal length to play with.

Plastic lens mounts always make me frown, but this is a great lens. Same applies to my 10-20 DX, which I love.

Hi Ken. Do you have any thoughts on pairing a Z50 with the 14-30mm lens? Thus getting the equivalent of 21-45mm with the DX sensor. I have been put off getting the 16-50mm that usually comes as standard with the Z50 because of the max F6.3 at it's 50mm setting. I also wondered if the 14-30mm is optically superior, as it is a 'S' lens.

You should mention in the video you turned the sharpness up to +9 in the JPEG processing.... nice that you did on your website. Important when you claim the lens is super sharp.

Hi, I was using this lens with Z50 since 2 years and now when I saw the new Z DX 12-28mm lens, I was thinking if I should go for that and try to sell the old 16-50mm so that I get wider 12mm with new lens. Did you compare these 2 lenses in terms of image quality? I have already ordered a Z DX 24mm because, I hope the prime lens would be lot more fun in low light. I still use my old 5100 and DX 35mm prime and think that combo is way better than Z50 and my current Z mount lens.
