I think it's better to say that rec709 is a range of colors that we all need to work with while shooting/editing video to be sure that colors will be reproduced correctly on a output device because it's most common color space that almost any monitor/tv/phone can display properly and it's easiest to work with. I watched your video and if im someone who heard about r709 for the first time, i still know shit about it, instead now i know that red + blue = purple.

It was first published in 1990 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and is widely used in the television and film industry.

The standard specifies the color gamut, gamma, and luminance levels for HDTV and is based on the CIE 1931 color space, which is a widely used color space in the field of color science. The color gamut of Rec. 709 defines the range of colors that can be reproduced by the HDTV system, and it is designed to match the range of colors that can be seen by the human eye. The standard also specifies a gamma value of 2.4, which is used to define the relationship between the input and output luminance levels. The luminance levels are specified in candela per square meter (cd/m²).

Rec. 709 is also used in digital video cameras and other equipment, such as video editing software, to ensure that the colors in the final product are consistent and accurate. It is the most widely used color standard for HDTV, and is used in most television and film productions, as well as in the majority of consumer televisions and computer monitors.

It's worth noting that Rec. 709 is not suitable for the new UHDTV (Ultra High Definition Television) and 4K/8K resolution, because these new format has much more pixels and wider color gamut, For that it's been replaced by a new standard called Rec.2020 which provides a wider color gamut, to match the wider color range of these new format.

Unfortunately you didn’t explain how that relates to REC 709 or what it is. Obviously there’s colour gambits of RBG which all digital content is recorded in but how does that relate to REC 709 or indeed the CMYK print colour gambit?

So I shot on DJI Air 3 DLOG-M, then what color profile I should used in post production if I make video for Facebook, Youtube and Instagram? Is rec709 works? I mean, on computer screen is absolutelty different than on mobile phones, right?

Wow that’s interesting, like white balance but for purple? Kinda like PMS numbers for ink in printing? I’m new to making content, should I be learning these colors’ numbers? Is there a number for each color, like REC210 or REC350?

I don't understand how to achieve the color yellow just with red, green and blue. I mean to get green you need blue and yellow.

So.... the 709 for pink is colors xyz, but ABC in different color shades will also give me that same shade of pink, but also ñéü shades could give me the same pink? Thanks! ;-)

CMYK is for printing so it has nothing to do with video, I'm a bit confused as to what you're trying to say in this short

Rec.709 is just the video form of sRGB. The two gamuts are the same size.
