That is very nice that you have it before everyone ! Thanks for the review :)

Less stickers and more power and speed would be better.

It would be great to see the competition 42099 vs. 9398

Looks fun, just wish it had a bit more power and speed.. that's the only issue i have with these..

Mehr Bodenfreiheit, Starrachsen (Portalachsen?), Öldruckstoßdämpfer, langsamere, stärkere Untersetzung, Differentialsperren/ keine Diffs, Adapter um anständige Elektrik einzubauen (2, 4GHz- Empfänger, 540er- Motor, Fahrregler, Servo, 2s LiPo- Akku) und 2, 4GHz- Sender und oben genannte elektrische Bauteile müssen dabei sein

Thanks for your rewiev, am i wrong or the new xl motor has much less torque than the old one? Looking to your vertical test, the crawler stops at a ridicoulous incline... Hope its a problem of gearing... What do you think about?
Thanks.

Great review. I really appreciate the thorough testing. This set combines my 2 loves of MRC Tamiya and Lego. Fantastic. I will definitely be on the look out for this. Thanks for the review.

This is what I get for my birthday.
Really looking forward to!

you should actually put the pins that hold the wirres outside the body not inside, placing the pins outside helps taking the battery out without removing the bodywork

At first I was excited to see a “modified Toyota”. But after watching your review the performance is more in line with a jeep. Great little review man!

I like this new set for its size compared to my 41999, but I still much rather prefer power functions

Good looks, but the underwhelming torque and speed are the deal breakers for me.

Pro-line Racing makes 1.9" rim size R/C rock crawler tires that fit on the rims. I bought some knock offs on Amazon. 4.7" tall, look wicked cool on the 42099! Have not run it with new tires as I'm about to tear down and build MOC's I saw on Rebrickable before I play. I posted photos on Rebrickable forum, search for Non Lego Tires.

I think I'll buy it mainly because of the new cv joint and wheel hub

*earliest review ever!* for sure it performs better than the older crawler, but was it necessary to gear up the already fast new xls? can't wait for some heavy modification!
