Turn the audi into a cursed crawler. Live axles on both ends, transfercase with diff lock and hi-low gears and lockers on both rear and front :D

The Audi one of the single greatest Lego Technic RC car of all time. Nice look, advenced building techniques here and there, new parts and recoloured useful parts.

This was really cool to see. You can definitely get a lot more speed out of the Audi as already shown in the vid. But it could probably go even faster so my vote is for more speed.

Great Video Balazs, very informative as to the pros and cons of each set.

The level of dedication to grow the grass the right length for the off-road challenge is superb!👍

Hmm... how about increasing ground clearance for the Audi and replacing the old planetary hub with the ones in the Audi for the Xtreme Off-Roader?

differential lock would help a lot, would like to see that first

I get the feeling that Lego vehicle are not made very well to be RC vehicles; fun to build, and look at! Just my opinion!

Great video, came here looking for drivetrain explanations and found it, confirming the Audi is twin-motor. A couple of notes; the taller tyres on the Offroader would help it on the grass due to greater ground clearance which means less vegetation drag, and also better obstacle clearance. You can also increase torque by reducing the wheel diameter and width on the Offroader. You want the tallest possible wheels offroad, generally, but there's no point if there isn't the torque to turn them. If you could link the front and rear axles mechanically, and have both motors turn that driveshaft, then the vehicle's total torque would be better directed to where it needs to be. Going to get an Audi now!

Nice video Balasz, to be honest I'd like to see more of that crawler course, it looks sick. Try putting a couple of buggy motors in the Audi [or buwizz BMs] and see how well it performs on a hard sand [like at the beach]. It's obviously not designed to be an offroad monster, but the speed by default does disappoint, that's my only gripe with the set. Lego should really be doing better with their RC vehicles these days.

What is the new power you added to make it faster?

Looking at the electronics, powering the Lego Powered Up Technic hub with more than 10.5V could permanently damage the motor driver ICs (LB1836). The operating range of the LB1836 is stated as up to 9V with an absolute maximum of 10.5V. The voltage from the battery pack seems to go directly to the motor driver but is regulated for the other electronics (the absolute max of the regulator is 17V)

The dakkar needs suspension with more throw and perhaps more powerful (moc/cada) motors, and the crawler needs locked diffs and aftermarket motors also for higher torque.

Amazing video, but I would love to see the audi with the buwizz motors compared to stock

It would be cool if these rc cars had a gearbox which could change from high speed to high torque and lock/unlock the differential. Probably too much of a modification for this set though.

Hi there, which set do you prefer between these two set (42160, 42099), Mercedes 42129 and 42070?
