If you get one of these drive adapters with an ethernet adapter, you can still play games like Metal Gear Solid 3's online mode, Star Wars Battlefront 2's online mode, among other ones. Still a very viable console today.

I thought this was common knowledge. It’s cool people are rediscovering the modding scene. I did this back in 07 just to bypass the bug that Ar Tonelico 2 had with the final boss. It was also a nice to keep a huge collection of jrpgs, region exclusive titles, and imports.

Console modding community is insane! The guys working on these are awesome. Even on most PS3, you can install a custom firmware, install game backups from PS3, PS2 and yes, PS1 too. 🙂

I’m only gonna mod my ps2 slim bcuz I want to play Japan imports. Other than that I like owning physical copies and having my beautiful collection games.

You have been able to put games on a Hard Disk for the PS2 and boot from a memory card for years, basically since it was current.

This is the system I want, of all the systems and games that were stolen, my PS2 is the one I miss the most.
