I think it's cool it came with a swatch card you can swatch instead of a swatch card that is just printed out and not the ACTUAL swatches of the colors.

Be careful, sometimes they look good when swatched but dont hold in time. Come back in a couple months showing how the colors held on paper

Another comment said it, but if it's cheaper and "lower quality", you want to be careful of the light fastness. This is how long the color lasts or how fast it fades. Lower quality pigments don't have good light fastness and will often fade out over a couple months.

I’ve been working with these watercolors daily for a few months for my art and it’s definitely nice for a beginner who wants a higher end watercolor for a cheaper price. My only complaint is it most definitely gets splotchy but that may just be something I’m doing. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Edit- They also get super chalky but do have very good color variation 😅

As someone who's tested these, they're a bit chalky, they don't provide light-fastness information, pigment information, and they don't lift. They claim artist grade when in reality they are student grade at best.

Yo everybody be aware that if a reviewer mentions a link to the product in their bio, it's likely an affiliate link, aka they make money off purchases through the link. Not to say that it's necessarily a bad product or a dishonest review, but I'd advise looking at other unbiased review sources as well

These look good for the price, but i think calling them "artist quality" is going too far. The pigments look very splotchy and seems as if there are a lot of binders (which is common in cheaper paints)
A good test would also be how well they hold up over time when exposed to sunlight (try looking for ways on how to do "lightfastedness" tests in watercolor paints)

the fact that she didn’t swatch the different saturations is triggering me 💀

So metallic and fluorescent colours are novelty paints. Doesn’t reflect the quality of pigment. I’m guessing these paints are dye based not pigment based. Of course the price reflect this. Sure they are good for beginners or sketchbook practice where you don’t want to bust out your professional watercolours.

the Swatch card has those marks on so you put strong colour in 1st third then water down in the second section then even further in the third, so you can see how translucent they are and how the granulate.

honey im pretty sure those measurement lines on the swatch pad were so you could swatch dark medium and light 💀

The three ticks on the search card is made for you to see what the colors look like at different levels of dilution. Straight from the paint, milk consistency then tea consistency. It helps you see what tones you can get from one color

Show us it when it's dry. Itll be nice to see then, since we get the full product instead of the swatches.

Not clear on if this is sponsored, you really need to be more clear on that for legal reasons.

I think it would’ve been best to paint something with the watercolor instead of swatching it on the square swatch cards. It gives a better view on the overall performance of the paint since that’s how a lot of people plan to use the watercolor. It would’ve been great to see how the colors
mix and hold on paper.

I'm a little late, but I have a few things to say.
This set reminds me a lot of sakura koi watercolors, which is the set I learned with. In retrospect I see several flaws with this kind of paint that are worth considering. For starters, that's way too many colors to learn with, you want to start with a much smaller set than this to get used to color mixing. These paints tend to be more opaque than normal watercolor so they act more like gouache than they should. This causes them to cover up line art, creates patches, and the colors will layer muddy. The colors appear to be high quality because they're mixed with optical brighteners that make mixing more difficult and muddy your water quickly. I would recommend the white nights paints for a beginner, the pigment is great, their inexpensive, lightfast, and they have less of the previously mentioned flaws. Not saying this stuff is bad in general but I think I learned to paint faster after making the switch :)

I now have bought this because of how popular and the reviews are but I didn't know about it until you told us! And I'm very excited for it to come!

Lmao you show a wet swatch knowing perfectly well that these colors are gonna fade once they're dry... That's a little dishonest if you ask me

These were my first set i got about a year ago. They are great. I just upgraded to qor and ds but 18 5ml colours on sale in aus cost me over 200 aud. Where as the artistro set of 48 half pans, the tin, and dome extras cost me 35 total.. i learned a lot with this set, from water contol, glazing, choosing limited palettes, mixing and lots of techniques. Highly recommend if money is at all an issue, and youre unsure if you will become hooked on this medium, starting with this set.

Tbh I would get Windsor and Newton, especially if you're in Europe or the UK, about £30 for their 24 cotman set, its lasted 2 years so far and they're amazing, super light fast too.
