Hi Russell, your info is invaluable to seniors! Yes these benefits are needed! They are the difference between being able to pay your monthly mortgage, paying bills & buying food to eat OR going bankrupt & becoming homeless!
YES KEEP THE BENEFITS COMING & TURNING THEM INTO PERMANENT UBI!😉👍🤜🤛👋🇨🇦❤️

The economy is terrible and the employment rate is very low in every province therefore the government should extend the benefits until the economy is recovering fully. Its tough days for Canadians.

Russel I believe we need to continue giving out benefits for those in need because so many are struggling with job losses, company closures and there desperate times call for drastic changes. I would hope that the budget will give more money to everyone not just a select few. Maybe a basic income would be a good start.

The job situation is terrible. I have sent 400+ resumes since Nov 2020 and got only 2 interviews. No job for now! The situation for professionals is even worse. So extension until September then a UBI will cause tye economy to return back to normal slowly but surely.

I've worked 5 different jobs since covid started even wanted to do door dash but my cars too old (full time single parent) between school closures and lockdowns in my area it's impossible for me to get anything stable and I know I'm not the only one in this position. The government needs to do something to help people in my position to contribute more, I dislike being on benefits but right now I have now choice...

It seems they will extend it until Sep 2021. And hopefully UBI at the end.

Absolutely we need these benefits to continue. Things are worse than ever with this 3rd lockdown, and the population is under a terrible amount of stress. We need continued confidence that our government will be supportive and help get us to a better place.

from where the government will take the money for ubi? i don't understand this, they didn't want to raise minimum wage to $15, because of te economy and now they will give free money to everyone, wow

So many people "fell through the cracks" with all the benefits thus far, but realistically Trudeau knows what he's doing and knows exactly who was left out - but they're of no value to him at the moment. Closer to the next election he'll suddenly remember to include everyone. UBI, even for 2 years, would help many but I really don't see Trudeau doing that. I expect everything announced on the 19th to look as lackluster as the past year.

Ubi is coming. Only a matter of time imo.

I think they need to extend the support payments and maybe even consider universal income like the NDP party talks about. I’m not a lazy person but this pandemic has completely turned the industry I work in upside down. My job relies heavily on government and school board contracts which for whatever reason aren’t there anymore. Its been a little over a year since I was laid off and in the mean time I’ve been sending my resume to every business I can in my area. Including places I wouldn’t normally apply to like fast food, grocery stores, hardware stores etc... These support payments are literally my life line right now. Without them my dog/best friend Fluffy would be homeless and starving right now. Before the virus hit the world I kind of hated the government but now I’m very much appreciative of the fact they they’ve literally saved our lives. When I do finally get back to work (which I hope is soon) I plan on paying extra tax everyone of my paycheques.

Yes hopefully they keep extensions or come out with UBI during a health crisis

Keep printing money to pay for UBI, while Canada produces less goods and services. It won't take long until $10, 000 a month UBI won't be enough for an individual to survive. The only ones that will benefit will be the people that own assets. The low income class that will supposedly benefit will be hurt the most.

Hello Russell, could you explain the new rent benefits for the working class that was announced by the Alberta government around March 26, 2021. I am confused on which one I can be eligible for.

So for anyone who has their CRB “reviewed”- I got a notice in January (last payment January 4), mine was being reviewed. The notice informed me -that it “could take up to 4 weeks”. It was the end of MARCH, I STILL hadn’t been reviewed.

FINALLY LAST WEEK, IT WAS APPROVED!!!! 3 TIMES LONGER THEN THEY SAID. My advice is to put some money aside, so if this happens to you you have some money to live on. It was EXTREMELY a difficult. Although I will be getting retroactive payments, it was difficult to survive. I thank The Almighty I live with my son, who still had some income. We managed to not be too behind on any bills, and still but some food...(BUT THE STRESS).😳😳😳
