In this video you’ll learn how to respond to ask for time to consider a job offer and get a job offer extension. It's so important to ask for time to delay the decision and potential acceptance, and think about the offer!
These quick decisions are called "exploding offers." An exploding offer is when a company gives you a teeny tiny window of time to make a decision of whether or not to take a job offer. Generally it’s 24 hours or less.

We discuss:
- What is an exploding offer - I tell a story of a friend who fell victim to an exploding offer :(
- Exactly what to say when you receive one. How to ask for more time to consider the job offer
- Next steps for your other interviews and salary negotiation

If you get a job offer from one company and are still interviewing at others, follow the steps in this video to come out with multiple offers:

Thank you so much for this clear and concise advice! I did exactly what you recommended and the employer extended the deadline to 2 extra days! Now I feel so much better!

Hi Millennial, I just want to let you know that you literally changed my life. You showed me how to find the job that I wanted and where I wanted. Figured out I have been doing it wrong for three months prior to watching your videos. Thanks for making these videos and I hope you the best in your life :)

I have received exploding job offers before and never accepted one. An exploding offer shows a lack of respect for employees and interviews are as much of an opportunity for applicants to measure the company as it is the other way around.

Hi Millenial! Thank you for your videos! Kudos! I landed two job offers. IT'S AWESOME! One of the offers is an exploding offer, I asked for an extension but they don't give it to me (it's from a recruitment agency - fixed term contract). After all consideration, I turn down the offer. I agree with what you said. Thank God, the second offer came in time and it is from a company in which sector I am more interested. Though the offer is slightly lower, but the role they offer is for a permanent position. Thank you, Madeline! You're cool!

Good answer to a prediciment I maybe in soon. More along the lines of interviewing for two jobs at the same time. I wanna see if I get an offer from the other one though first before rushing in accepting my first offer I get.

Thank you so much for this video! I have used the technique to ask for one day consideration and the hiring manager from the company called me to rush the process ~ I declined the offer, it was not easy for me bit I think I made a right choice. As I do not want to work in a company that shows no respect to employee .

2:18 I do really like your response! :) I'm assuming you're having the interview on a Friday? How long are you taking to make the decision in this example? Two days?
May I ask your thoughts on this response: Thank you so much for your offer, I would like to speak with my family before making the decision, but I'm super excited to start working with you?
UPDATE: What are your thoughts on Don Georgevich answer? You should accept the offer otherwise, they'll give it to someone else. Set your start date for a week or so later. For time to mull it over, better to have a job in your hand than a booking?

Hello! What’s a good way to add: would you be able to send me information about the benefits I would be receiving as well as tuition assistance ?

It does not respect I agree. Looked up this video because of a company that laid me off is now offering me another position. I asked for 2 days, it seemed like she was super annoyed. I think it is decent to ask for a day or two?! Its a big

Well known global companies generally provide a week not 24 hours…

Hey Millennial, I was wondering how you came up with your name.

Are you a (self-made millennial) or a (self-made) millennial?

I like your videos by the way!

Darnel’s channel says the you should accept the offer on the same day, cause if you don’t the HR Manager just going to continue the process. While you think on the offer on the toilet they are giving the offer to other person. So it is so confusing, you both say totally contradictory things!!!!

I totally disagree. First off you said your friend got an offer from a company he really wanted to work for. Secondly, depending on the position, he may have had multiple interviews with said company. By the time he receives his offer his mind should have been made up. By vacillating he shows the employer he isn’t serious about the opportunity, he might be waiting for a better offer to come along and he doesn’t mean what he says and says what he means. But what do I know I’m just a Director of HR
