When I was a young lad, my friends used to tell me that I should listen to a band named Tool. They would tell me things like "Their drummer is amazing!", to which I would respond, "Yeah, but I don't know. Mike Portnoy is pretty much the best drummer in the history of time and space."

What I 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 know back then, was that our experience of linear time and space is a perceptual illusion created by our consciousness, every event has already happened, and a killer feel that compliments the music is way more important than bombastic and self-indulgent playing.

I found that learning this particular Tool song was all about deciphering the rhythmic form. Once I was able to understand what was happening in the music, I was then able to understand Danny's parts more clearly. I believe Danny Carey performed masterfully on this album, and I hope you find I did this song justice.
