FlyByWire A380 - Before You Fly - Start Up Guide & FAQs Tutorial | BTV, MCDU, OANS, TCAS

The FlyByWire A380 is an amazing aircraft with many systems people may not be familiar with compared to the A320 family of aircraft. In this video, we take you through a full quick start guide and also address a lot of the new features and explain how they all work including brake to vacate, the onboard airport navigation system, where menus are locatd in the MCDU (transponder and TCAS etc), and setting up the FMS for your first flight.

Hidden click spot to disable the interior cabin, behind the FO on the wall, works wonders ! Sharp increase in performance inside and outside the aircraft.

This is an amazing aircraft! I still have lots to learn. For those who were having performance/stuttering problems, I highly recommend you lower your sim settings to medium, everything on default, will improve the plane massively! Also try holding Alt and then hit Enter 2x. But lower your sim settings then restart the sim and it should run without any problems with performance. The one thing that I notice is not working is the atc… I did not have the transponder on so I wonder if maybe that’s what the problem was, otherwise it was seriously a beauty to fly.

I don't think it's a bad thing that not all systems are fully functioning yet, because there's already enough to learn. And each system that is then added bit by bit not only makes it exciting, but you also learn bit by bit and you don't hit a wall full of new systems.

Had 3 flight tests with this acft.
Amazing work, but a lot to improve in terms of performance.
FBW said that we can expect around 25% of performance impact compared to A320 but even using 4K textures, I lost more than 50% of FPS.
I saw a lot of comments in this way on FBW's Discord. In a quick test using scenery and online environment, I had a constant 15/20 FPS, making this airplane nearly unusable. In the same environment I had a solid 40/50 using Fenix.

FBW made a brilliant work with this airplane, and for a freeware add-on it's absolutely wonderful but the acft needs a LOT of performance tuning.

Thanks alot for this video, first short flight completed from EGLL - EDDM with no issues what so ever and a butter smooth landing, yes very familiar with the airbus A320, its all there just in different places, thanks ever so much.

There are take off and landing calculators in simbrief. Seems to work with the a380.

15:10 you don’t actually have to switch the ND to “PLAN” in order to view the OANS map, you can zoom in on “ARC” mode aswell

I had a head in hands moment as en route to LEPA on a test flight, just descending over Barcelona and had the message you have critically overstressed the aircraft. Not sure how as my speeds, fpm were all within normal working parameters!

Doesn’t the flashing tool ‘handlebar’ at the top of the screen that keeps appearing / disappearing when your mouse hovers over the top of the screen annoy you? It can be fixed (removed) with a freeware tool in 10 seconds.
