Don't miss this special feature - FlyByWire A380X BTV Explained! With a Real Airline Pilot

This feature of the A380 is a fantastic addition from flyByWire, but how does it work? In this video I'll show you how to use BTV (Brake To Vacate) in the A380X.

I am a real world Airline pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of airliners in MSFS and X Plane. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

This video is intended for home entertainment only and does not reflect or represent any real world aircraft or airline procedures. It is for home flight simulator enthusiasts only and has no real world application. All views expressed are my own.

I've found that if you have the TCA thrustmaster throttle quadrant, make sure the brake selector is set to disarm. I've had the BTV in game not set otherwise

Thank you captain for this knowledge. I was wondering how the system works. Now we know. Cheers and keep the blue side up!

Worth mentioning that there are 5 ways to disengage BTV.

1. Apply more brakes than what BTV is commanding.

2. Hit the autothrust disengage switch on the thrust levers. This is the one I usually use at 40-50kts GS

3. Move the autobrake switch to off.

4. Press the RTO button

5. Retract the spoilers

EDIT: Added 2 more methods

ROT is probably Runway Occupancy Time, which would make sense at 53 seconds.

Amazing video. Definitely a lot to learn with the aircraft. May I ask how do you or what do you use for instant replay?

Great video. My only question is: How does reverse thrust affect the system? Like, does it take into account the amount of reverse thrust used and adjust its braking calculations on the fly? So for example if you set a certain exit, and you select idle reverse, will it suddenly reduce the braking if you suddenly decide to change to max reverse? And what if you somehow forget to engage reverse thrust at all? I presume the calculations it shows you ahead of time assume that you will engage idle reverse, so if you forget, then you're not going to make the exit...or does it then apply even MORE brake force to try and get you stopped in time?

THANKS!! Very cool feature! But I have a question about the cargo doors, How do I open them for GSX?

Only thing I've noticed about this is when I link my navigraph account, for some reason my frame rate tanks for the rest of the flight, even if I unlink it. Hopefully this issue is fixed soon.

My question is where is the fix info page in this big girl. I use it all the time in the narrow bodies.
