IN THIS VIDEO: Today, I'm excited to announce Part 2 of 4 in our new series — What Drives the Cut?

It's an exploration of why we editors choose to do the most fundamental thing in our toolbox — cut from one shot to another.

In this video, we’re going to look at how stories can be told with editing both at a macro story level and at a micro level, from one shot to the next.

Please enjoy!

Quality of this channel is just speechless. The only thing irritates me the most channels with quality content always has less views.

I'm amazed at the quality and clarity of ideas. I must say it's the best channel available on film editing. The editing of the video essay itself shows what 'good editing' is.

And yet another amazing video. It is an academic class rather then just a tutorial. The contents is clear and to the point. The quality is superb. Big thanks and looking forward for more!

Wow, the principle of causality seems so obvious and yet I never really thought about it that way. Definitely going to be thinking about this the next time I edit.

Great tips/ideas. This can (should) be applied to those of us that will only ever do at most YouTube vids (eg "story" continuity).
