Stranger Photography In London Using Vintage Cameras. Come with us as we take pictures of strangers around London on a Box Brownie and Ensign 320 Selfix cameras, shooting on Kodak 400 film.

If you would like to help me out a buy me a roll of film you can here

We took a Kodak Brownie camera and an Ensign Selfix, both antique cameras, out into the streets of London to do some street portraits of complete strangers.

Taking photos of strangers can be daunting for some people but if don't ask, the answer is always no. Many people are ok with having their photos taken and the vintage cameras created a great talking point. We met some really interesting and unique people with some amazing stories to tell.

Get out there and initiate your very own stranger photography session today.

Whether you are shooting film photography or digital photography, it doesn't matter. If you have a film camera collection, take one and go out there and see what results you can get. Shooting with vintage cameras in the street can be challenging (like guessing the focus with the Ensign 320 Selfix) but that only adds to the enjoyment of it.

Modern things on old cameras. Possibly the most satisfying thing I’ve seen all day.

Thank you for not wearing a wrong way round hat, sitting at a desk and greeting your audience with "wazz happenin'!!" That alone makes this video a relief from thousands of other "photographic" vlogs. Good content, tersely presented. A rarity. This establishes an undeniable notion that absorbing photos have very little to do with equiplment, but reside in the person behind it. I love the shots you took.

I like the kind of atmosphere in your videos. They feel like a cozy Sunday noon, drinking a good tea and have some cookies, talking with a good friend about our old darlings (I mean the cameras ect. ;-) ).
Greetings and best wishes from Germany.

People there seem to love puddle photography after somebody starts doing it. The exact same thing happened to me in that area! Great work bringing back all those old cameras!

I lOVE doing that. My favorite is an Agfa Sillette. It has a fabulous lens and gives really sharp pics. I shoot at flea markets and it always causes curiosities and questions from everyone around. Great video. I also on occaision shoot a agfa optima 2 or an argus c-3 that one really gets the attention.

I am surprised at how well that high speed film did in the box camera. Did you use special development techniques?

Great video! I really enjoyed it a lot. I have two questions for you, if I may. Which camera did you enjoy using more (or you felt a better "connection" with)? Have you ever experimented with "through the viewfinder" photography?

Nice review. Lovely pictures. Ensign 320 looks like the early Zeiss Ikon Nettar 512/2 which I use. I using a vintage rangfinder for the correct distances. Working great. You find them very easy on ebay.

I like this so much, I always wanted to make a video about everyday life using one of these vintage cameras. Like creating that contrast capturing all these high tech stuff using old camera, it would be interesting. Though it might gonna be expensive but hey one can only dream...

Great content, great presentation. Thank you! I got back into processing my own film last year, and since COVID-19 hit the world I’ve been doing it more and more. I’ve loved old cameras for a long time, and my current favorites are a 9x12 Patent Etui from 1931, a Voigtländer Avus 6.5x9 from 1933, and a Zeiss Ikon Icarette 500/2 from 1930. Your video has encouraged me to approach strangers for photos. Did you take their info in case they wanted to see them?
