I normally sing Bass/Baritone, but when I have a slight cold, I can get 5-6 notes lower in my Bass range. (I love it!)

"You've just woken up after a wonderfully restful sleep" Does that exist?? 😭

I’d like to know the tricks on how to keep that deep relaxation in the voice, apart from the obvious, keeping nervousness away.

Paul McCartney was determined to record his vocal for 'Oh Darling' (from the Beatles album 'Abbey Road') using his raspy morning voice. He lived just around the corner from the Abbey Road Studios and went in and had a try a few mornings in a row but couldn't get it. Then he nailed it. It is one of his best vocal performances ever, too. The lesson here is, use the morning voice to your advantage whenever you can.

Very useful and informative! I'm here because I am a worship leader in my church, and of course the most worrying moment is to lead the morning service at 6.30 am! Thanks for the tips!

So interesting! My lowest chest note everyday is G#1 or G1. But in the morning it's even lower! In the morning my chest voice sometimes goes down to an E1 and Eb1. I think that's the reason why most bass singers record their singing in the morning.
Also, have you ever heard of the Subharmonic Technique Beth?

Hmm. Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix always said that and he said he would take a nap before the show because it made his voice lower.

My morning voice is the most unique in my school class. Most people have a high tone, but I'm pretty sure I have the deepest, and I like it, makes me feel confident. I want to find a way to keep it :D

Probably because your vocal cords and larynx have been completely relaxed to the point of laziness, and a lowered larynx equals it’s a deeper voice. Relaxed and thick cords also equal a deeper and heavier sound. Just my educated guess before watching.

Also when I was in Men's Choir, and we had to sing at 8am at church on a Sunday morning, as a baritone this was not that bad.

i think there's no better feeling than waking up in the morning, knowing i can just HUG that d2. personally i feel very masculine knowing my voice can go lower than average, being someone who's struggled with it - i acutally try to preserve it by speaking less during the day! 😂 i think everyone should cherish their morning voice while they still have it.

Thanks for the video i've always wonder why as well :D.

NOTE: Most of people who sleep with their mouth open lacks of air to breath only by the nose, so the body balance this within the mouth. it's a really serious issue though, especially when sleeping cause you can have sleep apnea. (Sometime you stop to breath for 20 - 30 secondes which can be really dangerous) most of the time it has to do with a narrow palate and a surgery is required to get rid of this. (overweight can also cause this.)

So, how to actually *keep* your morning voice, especially the resonance and range in the lower end ?
No one (even among vocal coaches) is addressing this problem on YouTube, even though it's what most basses are actually interested in... 😔
