I definitely have this problem, the over niceness, the high pitched voice, trying not to sound rude to others with my tone of voice and it literally makes me fool like a fool Shortly afterwards. These are great tips and I'm gonna start applying them to my day to day.

1. Clean and clear throat at all times. 2. Speak from belly instead of chest and talk a bit slowly 3. Speak with raport breaking tonality. (not changing your tone while ending sentences ) Brett's embarrassing work : try to talk a bit loudley because it gave him deep voice for some hrs but if not done properly may cause issues

Another hack is to "speak through the mask": the words should be vocalized in the front of the mouth rather than the back area. You should be able to kinda feel the vibrations on your front teeth, like when you say "mhhh". The voice will automatically sound deeper.

I'm so glad you brought up the phlegm. I've been convinced that my constant sinus problems were affecting my voice and it was great to see you address that as your first item on the list. I also suffered from untreated GERD which also was having a similar effect prior to treatment.

I screamed a lot when I was younger. Like a shit ton. By the time I hit 13, I sounded like I was 20. No joke. However, I also used to mumble a lot (still do a little), and it caused a lot of people to misunderstand what I was trying to say. Proper annunciation and a deep voice can lead to a powerful presence.

My voice has naturally always been higher-pitched than other guys I know, and I think part of the reason is that when I study in my room (which I do a lot), I simultaneously want to verbalise my thoughts but not bother anyone else in the house. My body sort of naturally became accustomed to speaking with a head voice, since it results in less power and I don't have to consciously keep it down. I guess I now have to unlearn the process to project my voice again.

It is really funny as a singer/musician hearing Brett talk musical terms😆. The best thing to do for a deeper sounding voice (there is a difference) is to relax and breathe from your stomach. While forcefully clearing your throat and screaming will help have a deep voice temporarily, it will most likely hurt and potentially damage your vocal chords permanently. So, be very careful if you choose those methods. Relax, breathe from your stomach, and drink water and you should be alright! There is more info, but attention spans are shrinking, so here is *some* info😆.

I learned in vocal lessons that repeatedly clearing your throat can actually damage your vocal folds.

Don't mind me, just notes for myself.
1. Clean and clear throat
2. Speak from the diaphragm low and slow
3. Pronounce every word clearly, avoid mumbling
4. Speaking in a rapport neutal/breaking tone (meaning end your sentences with an even or lower tone).

My voice goes all high pitched when I’m talking to strangers and then pretty normal when I’m with family & best friends.
But my vocal chords generate the most sexiest deep voice ever when I’m angry at my boyfriend 🙈

Yes, asking tone is bad if the person does this all the time without knowing. Many moms and grandmoms do that, cause they are always asking something with high pitch, and many just need reading glasses to relax their eyesight and their throath. High pitch tends to put people into a state of doubt, confrontation, thinking all the time (maybe people overthinking pattern comes from living the whole day with mother's pitch pattern on the ear). Richard Bandler from NLP said you should never ever talk in a high pitch voice because you are putting people into a doubtful state and they will gone away from you. Of course, you can perform the asking tone, but not everytime, only if you are a kid or very insecure about reality.

the screaming can damage your vocal cords its fine every now and then but you probably should try to avoid it as much as possible.

OK video on the topic, Brett! - Two issues: 1. The upward intonation can be usefully used to ask question, even intimidate and overall be a part of a well versed tonality spectrum. (Think of an "aristocratic voice": going UP and DOWN to both extremes. 2. And the shouting part works because it relaxes some extra muscles, not because it causes inflammation.
Overall, keep exploring the wonders of the voice and spreading the message of development.

Dear Brett, in my opinion, this video is not exactly to the right point. It should not be about how to achieve a deep voice. It should be about how to speak more physiological, using all given body’s instruments and support to improve the quality of the tone, functionality, and vocal aesthetics. Following common stereotypes is not the shortest way to self-expression and attractiveness. How many people were damaged psychologically by stereotypes?!! And screaming in the car will finally damage your vocal cords permanently as it causes vocal cords tumor.

Another point is, slightly point your jaw a little bit foreward as you speak from your belly. It tends to drops your nose and your tonality gets way more deeper. But I notice when I talk to any woman I tend to be kind or not to be aggressive so I use to forget about jaw a little foreward and belly trick.
