ABOUT THE LESSON 📚

If you don't want to say something because it's too direct, rude, or even embarrassing, you should use a euphemism instead. They're more polite, pleasant, and even fun to say.

So let's talk about some euphemisms that native speakers use them all the time and that you need to know.

If you would like to review, here are the euphemisms from the lesson.

1. over the hill
2. (someone's) better half
3. hearing impaired
4. hard of hearing
5. downsizing
6. early retirement
7. the birds and the bees
8. carnal knowledge
9. (to be) expecting
10. to have a bun in the oven
11. to put down
12. (someone) is in a better place

You just rocked it, nailed it and killed it....!

Actually, I was looking for some videos on euphemisms since It was also very important to communicate your thoughts without hurting or making other offended. So, thank you so much for that from the bottom of my heart. It would be great if you make a sequel of this video:) ❤

Here are some examples include the euphemisms taught in this video-

1. I really miss my Grandma a lot. I know she must be in better place and ostracizing good things for me and my family.

2. It rattles his cage that he is going to suffer downsizing despite giving his best in the company.

3. It's axiomatic that when people become over the hill so they act like kids and It's our responsibility to repay the love they have given us.

4. Religiously speaking, putting down someone or somebody is not a good thing at all. Let the Almighty take the life when he wants.

5. My mother tells me when I was a bun in her oven then she would pray to God for giving her a handsome chap and lo and behold! Her wish was granted...

"Euphemisms " are new words for me.
English teachers never taught these words in schools and academies, not even private English teachers.
I learn easily through YouTube .
I wanna be a private English teacher and teach Euphemisms.
Thanks for sharing these new words, and keep it up teaching and explaining lessons . 😁

I'm a native speaker, & I didn't know about "over the hill". 😅 Thank you for sharing. In my defense though, I was raised by my mom & grandma, & they are both native Spanish speakers, so ... I didn't pick this phrase up from 'outside influences' apparently. Also, "passed away" should have definitely been on here. That one is extremely important to know.
