On the day of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s Coronation, multiple members of anti-monarchy protest group Republic were arrested.

Republic had vowed to mount the biggest protest against a British monarch in modern history by booing, holding up placards and and chanted ‘Not my King’.

TalkTV's Mike Graham and Kevin O'Sullivan are joined by former Met Detective Peter Bleksley says the police should apply the same laws to Just Stop Oil and other protesters and they shouldn’t be applying tougher restrictions because of a royal event.

"What policing is good for the King is surely good for his subjects!"

Who really gives a flying toss if they don't accept him as their king! Nobody is forced to, so their tantrum is fairly pointless..!

Very authoritarian to remove people’s right to protest !

A tourist spoke to me after the Coronation, he said the Police has done a very good job, everything went smoothly. But in UK people complains about everything 😁

they should be allowed to protest without having to impact on people who don't agree with them, they could protest in a park for instance without screaming in my ears if i am no interested

I thought personal liberty freedom of speech and democracy were part of British values ? Obviously Rupert Murdoch doesn’t agree !

Surely all laws should apply to everyone.

The King's coronation is not out of line with what other countries spend on ceremonial transfers of power and may be on the less expensive side due to longer
intervals on average compared to republics.

the police have no authority to use or ignore the law when it suits them. this is not north korea

Peaceful and responsible protest is part of a healthy democratic society, whether we agree with the voews expressed or not. I suspect a lot of this is a psyop to get the public to request restrictions on protest, rather than have politicians impose them.

Shame the cops didn’t remove just stop oil protesters as quickly when they blocked the highway. Maybe Charles gave them a bonus in doughnuts.

The met police are a public nuisance so shouldn't they arrest themselves.🤔😂

Oke so find somewhete else to live, because if your wish come trueand UK becomes a Republic, there will be unrest and trouble forever, therefore a King is better than a republic!!

It’s quite funny this, a bunch of reactionary old men who think they know what’s best for the country

Mate the old bill did the protesters a service. Me and my two bruvs were trying to get to them but the Police intervened. Otherwise they would have been excreting little bits of yellow plastic for a few weeks afterwards.

Taking someones right to protest away 😮 wow what happens when that right is removed for something most people agree with, say the privatisation of the NHS.

Talking about crimes people are arrested for because the police were so busy all day I wouldn’t mind betting that the statistics for domestic violence and rape took a big dip 🥾👮‍♂️🐷
