One of the best damn openings to a movie. Period.

Sometimes I just forget that's actually Ben Kenobi and Vader flying together into battle.

Hate on the prequels all you want... You can't deny that this was fucking awesome.

Best opening in all six movies imo. The music is great, and has that "our heroes are back" sort of feel to it.

who else prefers the venator class star destroyers above the star destroyers of the originals?

The memories of an eight year old sitting in the cinema and completely awed by this scene. God, I wish this film was 're-released in cinemas again!

This is the most impressive space battle in all Star Wars. I just wish it wasn't so short.

Remember ditching school to see this movie opening day! Best day ever! Seeing those fighters blasting out and the drumroll booming over the surround sound, the awesomeness was unreal! Now, I have only one thing to say.

THIS SCORE needs to be the menu music in the new Battlefront!

Imagine if this was the opening scene back in the 70's, it would have been called the best opening scene for a movie ever created.

And people say that CGI is bad.
Haha those haters...

"The long finale of Revenge of the Sith has more inherent artistic value, emotional power, and global impact than anything by the artists you name. It's because the art world has flat-lined and become an echo chamber of received opinion and toxic over-praise. It's like the emperor's new clothes -- people are too intimidated to admit what they secretly think or what they might think with their blinders off. Episode III epitomizes the modern digital art movement, more so than other piece from the last 30 years." - Camille Paglia (Glittering Images)

After over 10 years, the cgi still looks really good in this movie. definately the watchable prequel.

Episode 7 comment.

Force awakens really needed some more of this. None of that fucking recycled episode 4 shit.

I kid you not that piece of debris that hits the Star Destroyer at 1:13 is a Kitchen Sink.

"Wow, nothing can make this scene more better."
1:10
"Did that Star Destroyer just one shot that CIS ship?"

For a 17 year old movie, this CGI still holds up extremely well. Avatar, eat your heart out

This and the Coruscant chase scene from Episode II are my favorite sequences (visually) in all of Star Wars.

The tonal shift at 0:41 is crazy. It goes from some space ships flying around to "oh this is an enormous orbital battle" in the blink of an eye. It's great.

The significance is to show how much Obi Wan and Anakin are "in sync" with each other, even their flying patterns are the exact same. Anakin is a product of of Obi Wan's training. A training that will soon be used against him and all jedi. These however, will be the final days, of their friendship before everything goes to hell. By the end of this movie, their trying to kill each other. The friendship is destroyed, they are sworn enemies.

0:10 there's nothing underneath the ship, just Coruscant
0:45 suddenly, seconds later, countless of battleships fighting eachother appeared out of nowhere
