I remember a six year old me setting in the theater in pure awe at this intense, larger than life space battle.

Obi Wan saying 'oh dear' in response to his droid being ripped apart never fails to make me laugh

This opening scene does a great job at showing that Anakin was very emotional, and wanted to protect those he loved. He wanted to help out those clones so bad

John Williams absolutely slaughtered this track. The beginning sequence before we see Anakin and Obi Wan is one of the best scores of all time.

That synchronized fighter twirl set to a martial version of the Force theme is still one of my favorite moments in any movie, ever. I love this opening so much.

This is what I missing from the new movies. I can FEEL that George's soul is in every detail of the scene. We will never get anything like that from the new movies. The music, the sound effects, the photography. Perfection

0:22 I always loved how they activate their boosters at the same time after the roll. It fits perfectly to the music and cinematography. This is one of those scenes that you simply can FEEL! Not only that, but it also highlights the brotherly bond between Anakin and Obi-Wan. They have gone through so much shit together that they've synchronized their actions without even thinking or talking about it. I love it! It is also one of those rare skills that Obi-Wan learned from his former padawan. We know that he hates flying, while Anakin loves it, so in this one regard, Anakin is the teacher. Fuck, the prequels always bring a tear to my eyes, knowing what's going to happen later in the movie!

18 years later and it's still an unrivalled masterpiece of cinematography and CGI

This is one of the best opening sequences in movie history. For me you have to re-watch it half a dozen times as there's as much happening in the background as there is in the foreground!

I'll never forget when I saw this for 8-10th birthday with all my friends, it came out on my birthday and I was a huge Star Wars fan so my parents rented out the whole screening and all of my friends and I were in awe and grabbed pizza afterwards. Best birthday ever. Simpler times.

One of the best opening scenes in cinema history, if not the best. It's so epic.

One of the most entertaining and spectacular scenes in all of Star Wars franchise. The way the two jedi starfighters fly above the star destroyer and then showing what's happening below is some next level cinematography. The music also brings out the epicness of it all. I miss these types of scenes in modern Star Wars.
