The First Phone That Could Replace My Camera | iPhone 14 Pro

Just like last year I planned to make this comparison video considering there we significant changes to the main camera lens to the iPhone this year. This is intended to be a fun exercise into just how far cameras have gotten on phones but this year feels like the first year something has changed. The scope of this video changed as I was editing these images and you'll have to watch to find out why.

It’s unbelievable how close both of those cameras are to each other! The iPhone really has become a super useful camera

The best iPhone 14 camera test video I’ve seen. I have both the R5 and iPhone 14 pro max but I haven’t done a side by side like you took the time to do. I’ve been very pleased with the RAW capabilities of the iPhone and it’s nice having it when I can’t lug around my R5. The time you put into this video really shows. You’re one of the best video editors I’ve seen. God I wish I can make it to Colorado for fall colors some day!

This was a terrific video! Super informative & super impressive. As an iPhone 14 Pro Max owner, I am blown away myself at how capable its camera can be when used right.

I just upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro Max from the XS Max, and it's such a refreshing jump in overall phone and camera quality. I absolutely love the quality of the photos and videos especially with the 48 MP camera. I really enjoy this comparison to professional cameras because It's so amazing how much high quality technology they can provide in a phone! The projected iPhone 15 Ultra might be even more amazing with 48 MP, periscope lens, 8K recording, and USB-C!

Thank you so much for making this video. Felt honest, intelligent, and professional. Thank you for focusing on the photos and providing that knowledgeable discussion in the background. It's so refreshing compared to the other camera reviews out there where all I mostly see is the speaker, who also tend to be overly theatrical and obnoxious. (Also, the song you chose is fantastic and I've been playing it all night; so thanks for sharing that too).

Bravo! What a fabulous video you produced. I loved seeing the side by sides with your R5, but mostly just wowed by your production, the storyboarding, the clear and easy presentation and feeling like I was a part of your journey. Well done!

Really admire your work! You’re the first iPhone 14 Pro reviewer that I subscribe to! There’s so many reviewers out there, and this one is the best out of all, in terms of photography! Look forward to your new videos!

I’ve just started taking pictures with my 14 pro max and I’ve been amazed by the quality of the photos, even without editing, it’s just crystal clear, no matter the occasion, and I’m even more pleased to see it’s so similar to a professional camera.

So close. Incredible. All of the sudden the 14 pro doesn’t seem so overpriced as many say, you get one heck of a camera to boot! Fantastic review Alex. Keep up the great work 👏. I’d love to hear how the dynamic range compare between the two, ie when you really push the raw images to their limits.

The best comparison of the iPhone with professional cameras !! Really excited to get my 14 Pro Max now being a photographer as well 🤩

As a photographer of 15 years, and having tried to find a travel setup that suited me, I've gone from compact SLR's (6D/24-70) to mirrorless setups (GX8 lumix), and then back to SLR's again. I actually bought an Iphone 14 Pro specifically to get rid of having to haul cameras around when travelling. for 99% of uses, it does the job amazingly, and is so much more convenient!

Thank you so much for this video. This was a mind-opener! I own a iPhone 14 Pro Max and I was thinking to buy a Camera for my next trip to Asia. But as I can see, considering that I'm not a photographer and shoot most of the pictures in automatic mode, I've realized that my iPhone is more than enough. Your video confirmed me this! Again, amazing work, you really helped me!

You actually included some "regular" images so we can see the difference between snapshots and raw images + lightroom just like I requested. So awesome man I really appreciate that 🙏🏽 🤙🏽

Just ditched my a6400 and bought a 14 pro max. I find the result amazing and its easy . Since i mostly post social media i dont notice much of a difference in quality. Nice video also

Once zoomed in to 100%, the difference in detail can easily show which is which. No matter how good the software is on the iPhone, its small sensor + optics just can't match a full frame + a proper camera lense.

There is clearly a big difference when you study the details, to me the fine details on the iPhone look a bit like "oil paint" and the DSLR draws them very sharply - but the question is, in what situation does this difference really make matter? When I pull my head just 1 meter from the screen I can barely tell a difference. So for most applications apart from professional photography it's insane what you can achieve with a smart phone.

I appreciate you showing the used camera at the bottom right and the comparison is done really well. Best comparison video I've seen, keep it up
oh and the editing segment at the end is really useful for someone like me with barely any Lightroom knowledge, really appreciated

Probably the best and most in depth camera review I've watched for the iphone 14 pro. That is ridiculously impressive.

I see what you mean, but I think that by limiting yourself to the same focal length and similar that you are overlooking the biggest advantage of modern cameras: their flexibility. Adjustable aperture, better optical zoom (often), variety of lens options, etc
