“With us? They do?”
The way he says that is so cute and innocent. Like “what’s so special about us?”

I think my favorite scene was this one because Forrest didn’t care about race. He was super sweet and so polite he picked up the notebook for the lady

It’s crazy to think that Forrest was named after a member of the KKK. Such a great character, taught me early on in my life how ridiculous racism was

This kind of visual effect (perfectly editing Forrest into the footage) was achieved with image tricks and was considered cutting edge technology at the time. Today, with modern CGI, they wouldn't have a problem and it would be considered normal.

Apart from Dick Cavett (who appeared as a younger version of himself) Wallace was the only historical figure featured in the film who was still alive at the time it was released. I don’t know if he ever saw it. He died in 1998, on the very same day that Gary Sinise won an Emmy for playing him in a miniseries.

I love the way Forrest said, "With us? They do?" . I imagined that he still interpreted that raccoons wanted to go to school together with human students. He may have thought, "Oh, I didn't know raccoons wanted to go to the university with us".

I'm from Missouri but I went to grad school at Alabama. I walked by that doorway on my way to class every day for 3 years. It always humbled me. My mother was born in Montgomery about 20 days before Rosa Parks wouldn't get off the bus. Alabama has a lot of problems, but its also a magical state of some of the best people you'll ever meet..brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

I was expecting the men at the end to go attack Forrest for helping that student but glad they didn't

Those National Guard soldiers, assigned to keep the walkway clear and not let anyone get to the black students, did a real bang up job at stopping Forrest 😂 01:17

1994 will be remembered as the year two best picture Oscar nominees dropped N bombs and became big hits.

It's interesting that they randomly put this one scene in to show Forrest as an antagonist

Politics aside, public segregation was a dark and unproud time in our history! But it does not justify mistreating whites in modern times.
