Welcome to the recording for my special topic lecture for February 2022. In this lecture I riff on what alchemy is, defined by myself, and others, plus I weave into this topic how healing trauma and restoring regulation to the nervous system, as well as improving somatic capacity, fits in with alchemy. It was a fun one for me and I hope you enjoy the meandering lecture and mini Q&A I do towards the end!

"We want to have the outside inform us but not imprint itself upon us."

I feel like this is a super power and that I'd have gained the most priceless thing this world has to offer if I were to achieve the ability to have this sort of "filter". I am finding comfort in listening to this channel at a time of fear and uncertainty here in Europe. Planning to take part in sbsm in the next year or two God willing

These videos are so good. I know some days I can’t focus for very long I think it’s where I’m at that day. The information is so deep and clear. I feel that I heal in a small way just by listening and learning. I’ve read so many books and you really articulate this in such a clear way that I can make it functional. I signed up for sbsm can’t wait to start….we’ll I can wait I know it’s going to be work. I appreciate how you are clear with us that there are no quick fixes

Thank you for your vision, that covers an addult respons of going through traumatic memories and impulses. It really appeals on the tremendous capacity that humans have to heal and give ourselves to others.

22 minutes in. I agree regarding prayer, and multitudes and I will add entanglement, as a little hint.

Does this kind of stuff help with attachment styles that stem from difficult childhood/infancy?

Do you think misophonia and Tinnitus is caused/formed due to a Disregulated nervous system? Misophonia is a select sound sensitivity condition I developed around the age of 9 and I developed tinnitus about 5 months ago after getting sick. Little is known about both of those conditions but I’d love to know your take and if you know anyone who has successfully recovered from both or either by doing this work?!

I can appreciate skepticism of science and I realize you had a bad experience with scientific research. There is much room for improvement in the realm of science. This is true. However, not being able to report things you couldn't measure is an attempt at protection against false interpretation. If something wasn't measured in a study but was observed by the researcher, that offers a direction for one to take their next study. Science is supposed to build up to these revelations as tools, technology, and knowledge evolve. I was looking forward to joining SBSM but am now reconsidering as I find this ant-science rhetoric very, very concerning.

for social anxiety it can stem 100% from early and developmental trauma like most things in the world. I do recomend looking at assertiveness books, or books on codependency. Theres a good one called "No more Mr Nice guy" by Robert Glover for men. And Not Nice by Aziz Gazipurua. It talks about how people pleasing forms from abusive parents or parents that made us give up our needs and feelings to take care of them, and how that kind of starts shutting out our authenticity over time. Of course abusive parents can have a way of raging at a kid when he asserts himself which is a natural instinct for self protection that all humans and animals have. So in a way its like being conditioned that abandoning oneself is the correct thing to do repetedly. The conditioning of self-abandonment "fawn, or freeze". Doesnt allow one to feel safe and have the healthy agression or anger online, resulting in not really expressing oneself authentically because one doesn't have the safety yet, which safety comes from good boundaries and feeling able to protect oneself, or to have some assertiveness when someone is interrupting, or participating in conversations from a more authentic place and not a place of abandoning oneself, but just being aware that practicing self-respect gives a message of I value myself, to the system emotionally as well. Its a healing journey and eventually many times for me it included communicating and shedding old friendships that didn't align with the more authentic, more self-valuing me that I was becoming. In general these books explain well and there are so many resources to support this process of shedding survival responses from childhood that definetly didnt work for me anymore!
