Travelling solo in a Hungarian town called Fertőd. I started my journey in Fertőd which is a town located in the Győr-Moson-Sopron county of Hungary. I wanted to discover more about this random town and the atmosphere because my travels are not so much based upon the known cities or the touristic places. I like to get a feel of the life outside the bigger cities and unknown places where tourists don't go. I went to visit a small local market on the side of a road where the sellers set up stalls and they was selling Hungarian food seasonings, wild animal skin, alcohol, food, wooden baskets and traditional handmade items. While I was buying fridge magnet from the local seller he had told me with loads of information about the things he was selling and his family background in the business making traditional Hungarian objects which he told me they had been handmade was in Transylvania. I decided to get my self fridge magnets as souvenirs. I tour the town go to the shop get a beer and then make my way into the next village where I discover there were some old houses from the UNESCO world heritage. Join me on this journey to see how it goes.

As a black man lived in Budapest for 10years in his teens I can say they are the most nicest people I have ever seen in my entire life.
I remember me and my friends going to Nagykanizsa, Sopron coming back Balaton sleep for the night near the lake and going back to Buda in morning.
What a time, what a people, what a Country.

Trying to communicate with an English speaker exclusively in German is the most "Hungarian boomer" thing ever, I love it.

Nagyon rendes vagy, hogy segítettél annak a szegény embernek a bolt előtt. Isten áldjon és óvjon barátom!

A general comment and suggestion:
- Hungarians are nice but proud people and do not like to be put into a situation where they feel dumb. When you speak English to someone who does not understand it is very unpleasant as they feel they are being seen as dumb
- in addition Hungarians are shy so filming them without permission is not nice
- it is not a bazaar, you are expected to buy. If you do not whant to buy just looking (and recording) you shall tell the lady. As a general rule in Hungary you do not touch a product unless you intend to buy it (just out of curiousity do not touch it)

So I can assure you everyone feels very uncomfortable in such a sitation: not understanding what you whant and being filmed how "dumb" they are.
People are not rude only they would like to avoid and escape from such a frustrating situation.

Translation in the shop: 19:46-19:50 shop assistant: My darling, don't take pictures, speak Hungarian! 19:50-19:53 shop assistant: Speak Hungarian! 19:54-19:56 shop assistant: What do you mean, this? 19:58-19:59 shop assistant: Don't you mean this? 20:06-20:10 shop assistant: You need to spread this (on a bread)! You need to spread this! You need to spread all of these! 20:12-20:14 shop assistant to the guy: Don't you want to translate what he says? 20:14-20:16 the guy: I dunno. I don't know how to speak English. 20:16-20:18 shop assistant: What are you talking about? Tell me! What are you saying to me? 20:18-20:19 the guy: But I don't speak English. (she wasn't even talking to him but whatever) 20:20-20:23 shop assistant: What do you mean, my darling? 20:26-20:27 shop assistant: Then tell me what?(I don't really hear the end of her sentence) 20:36 shop assistant: That's cheese. (I don't understand the other word) 20:38-20:40 shop assistant: Speak Hungarian and we'll understand it. 20:43-20:44 shop assistant to the other shop assistant: Do you think he's taking pictures of me (emphasis on "me")? 20:52-20:53 shop assistant: Does he pay for everything (emphasis on "he")? the guy: Of course! 21:10-21:14 shop assistant to the guy: Where did you collect this beauty (Hungarians use "beauty" in a sarcastic way)? the guy: I dunno, i was just walking there and he stopped me.

To all the people suggesting the older lady was being rude,
We English have a terrible disease of the mind that makes us believe that wherever we go, people should talk English back to us, or understand our language. Even worse, when somebody doesn't understand, we even belittle them further by saying it again in English but with the accent of the other person, as if it would help them to understand.
I am sorry there are so many ignorant English people out there that do this. We have been separated by water on our Island and we are not as interconnected as those in Europe. But this is no excuse! Our language spread worldwide so we became lazy and wrongfully believed others will automatically speak our language.
Andre is not rude and speaks a lot more language than the average Brit!
But in this case whilst it makes entertaining viewing I would consider it rude (not illegal) to film interactions!

Your skin is not the problem, the problem is that you are filming, touching stuff, interacting with people without there permission! Also that old man who was helping you out in the store is so wholesome.

Your skin is not a problem, but shooting a video without permission and showing everything, but not paying for anything is unpolite too. Szia is hello in Hungarian, but only for friends the same age as you or younger. When you talk to people who can be your parents by age, you should be more respectful. Jó napot kívánok, viszontlátásra, kérem szépen, köszönöm szépen are the essential words for you.

From 5:43 He is a real oldtimer hungarian trader, every tourist should meet him first when they go to hungary :D The best example of "If we speak same language, we are friends" attitude. Because the tourists missunderstood most of the hungarians, most of them didn't speak english so they just didn't want to try communicate. But i'm proud of him!!

Ten obchodník je skutočne dobrý, kúpil by som všetko od neho. Vie, ako predávať a pozná svoj tovar, ktorý vyzerá skvelo.

I don’t think Hungary is a racist country, sometimes Hungarians are a little suspicious with foreigners in general in the small villages but It happens everywhere in the world

How do Hungarians react?🤔
Like many people in other countries, they keep their distance and are wary of strangers regardless of skin color.🙂 Someone is friendlier, someone keeps a distance of five steps. I experienced it myself in Greece.😊
(Filming can also make us more tense, but it also depends on the person.)

Watching it for a Hungarian like me is just great 😄 I wish you understood what the cashier told you in the shop, André. "Stop filming me" "Speak Hungarian darling so that I could understand you" "Will he pay for all this stuff?" - she asked the homeless guy. The answer: "Sure" 😄 Anyway, it was nice to pay him beer.

4:16 That lady said "Nemtudom" in hungarian, which means "I don´t understand". She was not rude nor wanted you, to buy more. Hungarian people - mostly older generation are not really english speakers. Lot of them can speak german language tho - as that guy in other shop did.

20:00 The lady was an exquisite combination of mock-grumpy, sarcastic, and even flirty. I was LMAFO-ing all the way. She was calling him endearing names while acting as if being pissed off. No bad feelings at all. Uniquely, impossible to translate Hungarian cashier/service lady/nurse talk. She asked the other guy "Where did you pick up this "gorgeousness"?" XD
