CRASHING: Omega Speedmaster Prices

Let's talk about Omega Speedmaster prices and how they have been crashing. Now would be a good time to purchase an Omega Speedmaster watch if you have been on the fence do to increased prices of the watches.

Most of the people here have never owned an Omega nor compared them to a Rolex side-by-side. If you did, you’d appreciate the craftsmanship and history. The quality, fit, and finish of the Omega speedmaster is on par with Rolex and in my opinion above Cartier. So many people taking sh*t and downplaying the value of the brand is comical. These are probably the same people who call a shitter Casio godtier and own a bunch or worthless watches with no resale value.

Yes COVID is over. Prices of used watches will return to lower than RRP like everything else. Then normal people will continue buying watches from shops, and idiots will stop making YT vids pretending watches are appreciating assets.

EDIT: not three minutes in and he can’t help himself but to say he “can’t imagine” something going any lower. This guy is a one trick pony. Invested in the industry and cannot stop himself. Actually, maybe he already lost it all since he “sold his shares“.

People only want what they cannot have..once anything becomes freely available nobody wants it ….when I bought my 16518 Daytona back in the day it sat in the AD window for several weeks freely available to anyone when I purchased it I was given a 15% discount being a bank holiday promotion.

Silver Snoopy retails at $10, 800. When they’re on Delray Watch et al for $9, 999 I’ll call it a crash. Until then it’s hype dying off now that people are putting money in other places than “investment” watches.

They need to come down further....when secondhand watches are a % of a fair RRP, and Omega (and others) stops chasing secondhand prices I may buy.

Discontinued Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow GMT with Frédérique Pigiuet is selling at around $5.8k on the secondary market complete with papers and original box. That is a rare production run with ‘57 hands and GMT coaxial complications.

The problem about these watches, especially you buy them from private, they dont have warrinty anymore after 2 or 3 years. So you really need to be careful.
Also for me second hand prices of over 6k are still to high. You can get a brand new aqua terra with the usual 20% off for like 5k or even lower.

Economies all over the world will get worse before they get better. Couple that with new LE fatigue and the Speedmaster is a great candidate for a dump
