I discovered using two antennas at once to hear weaker signals and I thought I would share what I found. I heard it is called "articulated Listening".

Diversity receive was part of what lead me to buy my FTDX101MP having previously had the same dual receive on another rig. Even a wire along a wooden fence can be a great second receive antenna. FWIW I did find that the optional 1200Hz filters in both receivers are great for resolving weak SSB signals, of course at that bandwidth they sound bad. The radio CAN transmit from ANT 3 but in the menus it defaults to receive only on that port. If you listen to any AM it can be good to have each receiver tuned to opposite sidebands. Dual receive with stereo headphones convinced me to never go back to an HF rig with only a single receiver 73

James, there may be some people who refer to the practice of listening to the same signal with 2 different receivers and antennas as articulated listening. However, a more common term is diversity receiving. It is a very useful technique, especially under QSB conditions. And, I use it also. If the antennas are of the same polarization, then, to be effective, they should be situated at least a wavelength or so apart on the desired frequency. If they are of opposite polarization, they can be closer. In the days before transceivers it was not as easy to employ diversity receive as it is today, but many amateurs still did it.

I would like to see the same video done with a big beam vs a dipole
