Hi all, just a follow up on how well my Yaesu FTDX 101D handles interference with the VC tuner.
It will never eliminate interference fully , but it comes bloody close!

Excellent demo. I'd be cool to see a comparison of the VC tune, adding attenuation, NB, and the DNR, all compared. 73 de WA3RSL.

Although I am late to this, I recently bought an FTDX101MP, certainly very impressive receivers. Looking forward to doing some 2 antenna diversity with stereo headphones, I used to do this with a previous rig, could not go back to a single receiver.

FTDX-101D (MP) performance is unsurpassed. There are lots of Icom fan boyz out there who have a problem with this and they just need to get over it already. After having and using VC Tune, it would be hard to imagine having a radio without it. It is not an opinion, the 101D is simply a better radio, even with all it's little firmware annoyances. Don't forget to show the use of the DNR function in conjunction with the VC Tune. Of course pressing and holding the DNR button in for 1.5 - 2 seconds will allow one to use the Multi Knob to adjust the DNR level (This is also true for the NB level as well). Pairing DNR with VC Tune will make signals that you can barely hear and cannot copy just leap out at you! I mention the adjustment of the DNR function via the Multi Knob because I have run across a few 101D owners who didn't realize they could do that!

That's pretty impressive noise reduction, for sure - probably the best I've ever seen from any of the big three radio manufacturers. Believe it or not, however, it still doesn't compare to the newer SDRs from Apache Labs. I'm not exaggerating when I say their NR seems like some kind of sorcery.

But you also lose the weaker signals? It lowers the overall signal. Louder signals are more pleasant to hear but weak signals will also disappear...
