I cant not express to you in words how much I hate the fact that by default windows hides file extensions. Whoevers idea that was should be fired

Definitely appreciate the 5 to 10 minute length. I've got a life and things to do, but a little education break now and then is nice. Thanks, Dave!

I love the shorter videos, get my data and go, thanks so much Dave!

What about Recall which apparently gets installed and enabled?

Ignoring the Recall controversy is going to get people assuming your in support of that particular egregious decision.

the recall feature is what might finally make me stop using windows. Crazy that MS thinks this is ok.

I don't need Recall and Copilot sending all my information to Microsoft or bad actors. I either need to completely disable them or switch operating systems.

Recall is looking more and more like an NSA backdoor.

Its an update to install RECALL which will get enabled at some point when

1) people forgot about it

And they won't when they get taken to an anti trust lawsuit

A picture is worth 1000 words, a word is one. I don't know how many of my users heard me complain about the copy/paste pictograms, a lot. Sure, images (hieroglyphs) can transcend language barriers, but language packs exist for a reason. Words, what an invention.

Dave, as always interesting and to the point. Kudos!

But I lack one thing:
PLEASE: Your input on RECALL since it is implemented with the latest ISO of 24H2. The initial feature that was out for beta had, as you know, a 'silent' extensive tracking that got a lot of (well deserved IMHO) heat and was supposed to be drawn back. But here we are. Your input in the matter would be much appreciated and I don't think I'm alone.

Now and then I recall the video you did with Threadripper and Doom. It always bring me a smile like "Yeah, that is the best way to show and test a system with a almost infinite amount of cores.... "

Not to mention your interview with Cutler. Very interesting to hear what was going on back in the day. I was there and will always remember the security folks from US Defense with the colored defence books almost shouting: Windows NT:"C2 in '92". Today no-one knows how it was back then. Lucky b'stards. 🙂

THANK YOU
for what you do.

You forgot that it also comes with Recall, and there's much discussion about the fact that you won't be able to easily remove it.

What about Recall? Why didn’t you discuss it Dave?

Hi Dave, how do we GET RID of Recall?

Recall is also on 24h2. It is hidden in just about every way but it is there. You can disable it via a command prompt command.

I'm a mechanic. Listening to this is like listening to Mozart in one ear and the Mandarin dictionary in the other. Yet it still fascinates me.

Dave, can you do a deep dive into the new Recall feature and if it is actually possible to uninstall it? In my opinion, Microsoft has crossed too many lines with Windows 11. It installed on my PC one day without asking, automatically upgrading my Windows 10 install without permission. Then the hieroglyph context menus and ribbon bars, start menu downgraded to windows 8 style, copilot and recall being forced down our throats (indications are recall is baked in at a very low level and cannot be 'uninstalled'). I shouldn't have to do registry hacks and install third party apps (start 11 makes the start menu actually configurable) to make it usable. This combined with the behind the scenes privacy issues with recall and other reporting issues, after a lifetime of using Windows, I'm finally moving to Ubuntu for my primary desktop environment. Almost everything I do these days can be done there without windows, it's bloat and being told how to use my PC by Microsoft. If I wanted to be told how to use it, I'd get a Mac.

Why didn't you mention Recall, Dave? People need to know about this! And how to turn it off!
