Many of us celebrate St. Patricks Day by wearing our best green attire, decorating our houses with shamrocks, and perhaps even heading to a local Irish pub for some adult beverages. But how much does the average person know about the history of our Saint Patrick's Day traditions and the history of Saint Patrick himself? In this video, we explore the primary sources that give us the most historically reliable information about Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. We also trace the history of our many beloved St. Patrick's Day traditions!

What a fitting topic for the day! 🍀🟢🟩💚

That being said, I studied abroad in the UK, and I noticed a lot of the American students were so excited to go to Ireland and drink and be merry on St. Patrick's Day (in Ireland)! However, it's very much a religious holiday over there. They seemed taken aback! It makes sense that it would be, especially after watching this video and learning even more! I just found it interesting how the St. Patrick's Day traditions have changed so much over the years, but in some places (like Ireland) they have more of the traditions of how it started.

Another interesting thing to me about this holiday is there are so many secular holidays that turned into a more religious holiday, while this one seemed to do the opposite. Why do you think that might be? What holidays have changed the least in customs or traditions from where it started? 🤔 Something interesting to think about!

It's always fascinating to me learning about the travels of people in antiquity without the benefit of modern transportation. In St. Paddy's times the primary mode would have been on foot, but to cross to the Continent and to Ireland especially, on what would have been primitive boats (or ships), is just amazing. P.S. I like your choices in T-shirts which I presume reflects your taste in music as well. 🎶

As a heathen, I don't like the saint. But as a Irish descendant I celebrate Irish heritage day in it's stead.

I'm the good shepherd. So the story is funny. Going to the Irish and Scottish is interesting because they're Hebrew tribes who escaped from captivity. The accent is the result of Hebrew speaking Israelites, choosing to speak English so nobody knew they were Hebrews. Assyria or babylon would have been hunting them.

He was one of my past Incarnations. Watch my videos. Notice the sun disc behind his head? I'm the incarnation of the sun.

St. Patrick rid Ireland of the Gnostics and or the Serpent Worshippers. Christians should start reading other books besides the Bible. I recommend "The Christ Conspiracy - The Greatest Story Ever Sold". Neither is the Literal/Biblical Christ real nor that Christianity was a peaceful Religion from Day 1.
