Such an important piece! Lawyers are one of the tools that psychopathic predators use to prey on their victims.

I will add that in each state there are large corporate law firms that perform similar roles as inside political brokers. In Arkansas, there is three Rose law firm of which Hillary Clinton is the most famous alum. In Seattle, Bill Gates’ dad’s law firm, then Preston Gates Ellis, now K&L Gates, had a large staff protecting son’s Microsoft monopoly tactics. It extends far beyond the I-95 corridor. Thanks for shining through light on these characters. They are essential to the corporate state in which we live.

This has been happening for 120+ years. White shoe firms and United Fruit Company. Dulles bros., Brown Bros. Harriman, etc.. It’s much bigger than what’s touched upon here. And much older.

I went to an Ivy League law school with good connections to top law firms. We had seminars with big shots in corporate law who basically openly bragged about this (at least in front of other lawyers and law students who they assumed were in perfect agreement that this was the correct way to manage society). They openly ridiculed the concept of popular control of policy.

It's so adorable how awkward Matt is at doing this. And pls KB, pay the man so he can get a tailored suit jacket from the same place Saagar gets his. 😅

Jokes aside, this is a very important piece, showing us the faces of the ghouls that run things bts.
More of these pls.

Once people believed in the notion of "rule of law" it was short order before we were all ruled by how they "interpret" the laws and Constitution.

All you need to do is look at the parma industry and see how the Sackler family was able to escape prosecution with their fortune intact.

Big business has big lawyers, top firms are doing what they can bend the laws to do what they want. We need stronger laws that can’t be misinterpreted, so ends up being our government fault again!
Thank you, Matt always eye opening reporting! Even though our government and rich lawyers suck! 😢

It's amazing how with the advent of new, efficient bureaucratic technologies we haven't seen a movement towards universal access to civil society.
That means everyone now needs a lawyer, accountant, and a business to be considered equal citizens.
It's not impossible. We can do to these professions what they did to our unions.
If you believe in the creeping efficiency of economic theory, it's exactly where we're going with this.
I look forward to the day when being a lawyer requires no more than a high school education and a 15 week evening course on court etiquette!

The US spirals downward faster than ever before towards a truly evil society.
Can the country turn away from this self destruction path?
The majority of the American people seem to prefer standing by, doing nothing to change that course, not raising their voices, no large scale protest, no civil disobedience, no meaningful political participation, no pressure towards their congressmen.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke.
