Never understand why people seem to care about the weight of a mouse, it doesn't really matter how heavy it is you get used to it over time. I've always liked heavier mouses more but I guess that's just me

"Dont buy this" proceeds to point out tons of things i like in a mouse.

You just made me more sure about the purchase, which i really appreciate! Really like your straight forward (and very honest, thankfully) style of review!

Had mine for a day now, couple notables:

- The DPI shift buttons are the main feature of the G502, second only to the grip style. Not for the ability to swap dpi on the fly, but for the button placement. Swap those buttons to keys that you can use in game. Ya'll not doing this are missing out, heavily. The G502 is the "best selling mouse ever made" and not the basilisk. What's the only difference? The DPI buttons. USE THEM. The larger size on the g7 also allows you to hit it with your thumb comfortably. This is great as I use it for push to mute and grenade/gadget depending on the game, and freeing up the pointer finger is useful.

- The Scroll UP/DOWN is now customizable in GHUB. This is actually fairly huge. Bunny hopping and infinite scroll wheel shooting? I'm sure there are other uses. I've only made use of it in Warframe so far, but I'll be keeping an eye out for other uses.

- The weight. I'm throwing this out there for the people not pretending to be "pro gamers" and actually value comfort over a .01 percent higher k/dr. The g502x is markedly lighter. To the point that is slightly uncomfortable. I have both the OG lightspeed and the X in front of me, and I'll definitely be taking up the advice of swapping the bottom weight plate. If you are in it for a lighter mouse, but want the comfort of the g502 layout, this is probably a huge plus for you. Not for me. If I didn't have the extra weight plate, I would be *weighing* (lol) the pros and cons as far as keeping the OG lightspeed around.

- The RGB strip is awkward and noticeable in the palm. I don't like it. It's not a make it or break it for me, but it is unusual.

- The thumb rest area feels shorter. I'm unsure if this is a pro or a con.

- The lack of a gap at the front of the mouse between the left and right mb is annoying. I liked the gap. It's been a day and I've tried to click that area multiple times now when regrabbing the mouse because it sits in the same location as muscle memory puts my middle finger from the OG lightspeed. Not a huge thing, but it is weird.

- It is talked about in the video, but the mouse wheel is a huge improvement. Like HUGE improvement. I have hated the g502 mouse wheel since I first picked up the OG in 2014, despite it becoming my favorite mouse for nearly a decade. This is significant, imo.

The X fixed all the issues I've had with the 502, but added some others. So far I'm happy with my purchase.

I've had my G502 for 6 years and have no idea what you are talking about "sticky" rubber sides. They are worn, but perfectly contoured to my hand like a leather glove - not sticky for me at all. The heavy weight is the real problem, which the new G502x fixes (89g).

My only complaint about the RGB on the X Plus is that the Logitech "G" logo isn't RGB as well, it should be

I bought mine (x plus) about 2 weeks ago, and upgraded from the 502 corded version. I like this one FAR better, and I thought the 502 was great. I like the rgb, it’s comfy, light, and highly responsive.

Funny thing is, I bought the G502 X the moment it was available and.. while the weight difference and new feet are excellent features... That "RGB strip line" is so annoying for my hand.
It gnaws into the palm, making palm grip uncomfortable.

I bought the plus just to spite you and myself at the same time.

I have been using the foremost DPI switch on my g402 (g502x otw) for years. For basically any game that has a melee/fast melee, e.g. melee in Halo, switch to knife in CS etc. It has all been bound to that button, nothing has felt more natural for me. That and using the side "sniper" button to switch weapons.

I just want the G203 to get this treatment and new switches.

Got the G502X Lightspeed version in black (my first ever G502) and i'm freakin loving it. The only thing that stopped me buying a G502 before was the non-removable sniper&thumb button on the side. Absolutely hated it. Now that they've pulled a razer on that thing (on Basilisk Ultimate it is removable), got it ASAP.

Using a Razer Basilisk Ultimate on the side and i must say that mouse has a very unstable scrolling experience. You cannot switch weapons in games only relying on the scroll wheel steps because it is not registering scrolls until you push the wheel a little bit further in order to complete its registering... When i opened it up i saw that it's using a cheap potentiometer system rather than an Optical encoder like Logi products. And that potentiometer is wiggling back and forth as you scroll the wheel causing those scroll skips. I've managed to tuck a toothpick (yes a freakin toothpick) in the enclosure in order to prevent it to wiggle, and it improved the scroll skips to a managable degree. If anyone is interested in it i can send photos of it.

Anyway, stay away from Basilisk ultimate and V2. Stick to G502X.

After using the og 502 I couldn’t imagine using any other mouse, I love the two side buttons next to the left click, hopefully getting this x upgrade for Christmas 🙏🏼

the fact that they made a swappable flat button for the side button is great, really one of the only complaints that i had with the previous version.

the only difference to write home about the g502 x is the new optical switches which should _FINALLY_ be resilient to the double-clicking issues that have plagued their mice for years now.
i've had an optical switch keyboard for about 3 years now and it finally solved chattering compared to normal mx cherry.

If you’re coming from the G502 Lightspeed Edition you can change the bottom cover that holds the USB dongle on the G502X(+) (which is pure crap plastic compared to the rest of the mouse) with the one from the G502 Lightspeed that has the two weight slots in it (and is much better quality plastic) and you get a pretty good feeling mouse that isn’t so heavy that movement feels sluggish, but not so light to the point you feel like you could chuck the mouse off your desk.

If the cord on the wired version is light enough like the ones used on ultra light mice, then I feel that would be the best edition. 89 grams is definitely noticeably lighter than 100 grams and the price difference is huge too.

I use the rgb on my 502 ONLY to have a visual representation of my current profile, so if my profile wasn't changed while starting a game I'd instantly know and will be able to turn it on manually. Other than that I also don't care for rgb. So if I want to have that feature I'd have to go for the rgb version, because the other ones have 0 lights to indicate that.

Too late. Bought that already. And I thought I would just be able to turn the rgb off. In part, that’s true, you can just disable lightsync. But the rgb is not completely gone. Whenever I’m away from it, the rgb turns on again, just so it ruins the battery time…

There’s one more thing I don’t get either… I own an MX Anywhere 2S, which also has the “infinite scroll” (hyper fast scrolling) feature, but it works on a different software. In that one I can enable a smooth scrolling option, and that’s absent on G Hub. WHY? WHY? WHY? I mean, this is a high end mouse! Why would you have “infinite scroll” on it if you don’t pack its full potential?

Other than those two problems, though, it’s a great mouse.

Holy shit the sheer distance he has to move his mouse to get any sort of movement on his crosshair is painful to watch.
