The fishes: 🐟 🐠 ✏️ 📝 "noted"

I've done this and it works but what she didn't mention is when you pull on the string you give it a sharp, quick "snap". The hook pulls out much cleaner and takes less flesh with it.

The animation: chill
Me: AHHHH IT IS STUCK IN MY SKIN!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Animation makes it look more smooth than it actually is. It's a sharp object and it's stuck in, there's no cavity, no matter how you move it, skin is tight around the hook. Remove it like that and you'll rip some skin in its way. This is good, easier and I guess also clinically proven. But I'd do it in two different ways.
One: the hook is VERY sharp, and "C" shaped instead of "J", like a stitch needle. Pierce through the skin following the curve in the direction it entered until it gets out (it's a very specific situation and I have no evidence of it's effectiveness).
Example: iseama hook
Two: if it hurts a lot to pull, (maybe it's a special fishhook, its somehow very stuck, or it's a "fishhook like" structure, I'd make a small incision to pull it out. Sounds dumb since you are making more damage to the body but in some cases you'll save damage to the tissue. (Also if there's a risk of infection, it will be easier to clean). Example: arrow or a wood through the skin (this I have actual evidence of its use)

Depends on the hook. If its a barbed hook then u have to push it through to the other side and then pull it, to avoid ripping ur skin off with the little sharp dent that is shown on the hook in the video. But if its not a barbed hook u can just pull it out like in the video. (My dad teached me this cuz we go fishing and we have both types of hooks. Also sorry if my english is bad, I'm from Poland.)

Btw. Love your vids ❤

No. You push it through, clip the end, and then pull it out. Done. ✅

When I lived in Alaska, the local emergency room had a mannequin in the waiting room with a fish hook stuck in every place the ER had removed a fish hook from a person.

When I was a young warthog, I was fishing with a friend, he was tying a hock and was pulling the knot tight and kind of biting off the excess line from the knot at the same time and somehow slipped and got the hook stuck in his lip.
It was barbed and wouldn’t come out, in the end he got so angry he pushed it through his lip so the point came out, he then crunched off the barb with the pliers on his multi tool and pulled the hook back out. He was only a little guy, and he was profoundly deaf so wore hearing aids and couldn’t speak very well, I’ll never forget him swearing at himself and his bad luck while he was doing it 😮
Tough kid.

as a fisherman I've had to deal with this several times, I cut the line off the hook and push it all the way through. this may sound bad but I'd like to know if it really is or not, it gets the job done 😕

In boyscouts back in the day they recommended pushing it out through the skin, clipping the hooked end off, and reversing it out. Didn’t sound fun, but may be safest to avoid additional damage & infection.

I was waiting for the punch line, but then I just ended up learning something.

⚠️100% DO NOT DO THIS⚠️
The hook, as it entered your skin the barb stretched your skin. When you push the hook down to back it out, as shown in the animation, the flesh above the barb will not stay still it will receed to its normal resting point or even lower due to the tension on the surrounding skin by pushing the hook down, therefore causing the barb to tear away at your flesh as you remove it. Force the point of the hook back to the surface of your skin, clip the barb then back it out.

Not at all. Force it through the closest surface of skin, clip the barb end off with a pliers. Then smoothly pull it back out without risking damage from the barb.

This is what you should absolutely NOT do, you'll just rip out skin and it'll be much more painful, susceptible to infection and takes longer to heal.
