Why has it taken me 5 years to find this kind of a video... WTF

It's crazy cool to me that MIDI was made exactly 40 years ago and it stood the trial of time to this day. Dave Smith and Sequential had a huge impact on the modern music industry and I think many people don't realize, as they're not nearly as big as Korg or Yamaha. By the way you said MIDI was invented by Dave Smith Instruments - they were actually called Sequential back then and DSI is the name they had to take for the recent couple of years after they decided to reactivate their brand and they eventually reclaimed the rights to use the original name - Sequential. They were the first that allowed musical instruments to talk to each other in a modern way. They also revolutionized synthesizers, connecting the analog with digital and taking the best out of each domain. Dave passed away a year ago. Rest in peace Dave :(

What an excellent video. Well done! A short explanation on how to use MIDI THRU to synch with gear. The Daisy Chain ideas simply brilliant. Thanks for putting this together.

That's so much info in just 3 minutes and 45 seconds. I gotta watch that about 30 more times. But I love it. Straight from concentrate. I've been searching and searching for this exact video. I can't believe such info is so rare. Love the little drawings too. Definitely the visual element I connected with the most. And how I'd be trying to map it out beforehand at work; what gear I want to daisy chain and drawing little pictures to get hyped. lol

This has been one of the most useful videos on MIDI Ive found I t eh last few years! I really like your relatable mindset as opposed to channels from conpanies that only present the viewer with a product to buy demo'd by a 'pro'. It's great to have a sense of community

This was really useful. As someone new to this, I often get a bit confused over what USB does and does NOT accomplish. Thanks for putting this up - subscribed!

This is what I needed! Why is it so damn hard to find information on how to do this 0_0 setting up a home studio soon and need to understand how to control multiple desktop synths from one midi keyboard thankyou!!! ✌️

Thanks! That is exactly what I needed to know. Quick and to the point. This is why I like you. I am such a noob about MIDI. My mind glazes over, when it comes up..but it's becoming essential, now that I'm really trying to do a synth rig.

What would you recommend for my current setup?
Drum machine: _Behringer RD-9_
Synths: _KORG Microkorg, KORG Minilogue_

DAWless is cool if I were to be performing live at an actual gig, but in my bedroom or living room, I would like to record my performance in DAW (Ableton Live).

I have an audio interface (Behringer UMC202HD) which I think should be enough, but i've also been considering getting a mixer (Mackie ProFX 12v3) to connect the gear to

Until then, should I just plug the Behringer RD-9 and one of the two synths into the preamps of the audio interface via mono TRS cables and record my performance in DAW? Or would that not work like that?

I'm so lost here, but this video makes sense. Just not sure how I'd apply it to my baby setup

Do you have a video showing how to start/stop sync and note input OCTATRACK to Mother and mother SYNCING the DFAM up to it all? Settings for Octa and the Mother set up process. Let me watch this again! Hope you have a splendid holiday and you are well!

Omg! I wish you were my neighbor. I’ve recently decided to take all my gear that i have collected over the years and get serious about making music. Trying to organize and hook it all together was driving me insane! I’m so glad to have found your videos! FYI- jealous of all your beautifully organized synths😊

MIDI to music is what USB is to computers! Your videos are fantastic.

Thank you for this simple quick video! I'm a guitarist who is just getting into synths. Bought a digitakt, and just got a minilogue XD. This was really helpful, thanks!
