With the recent release of the new 2015 Mustang, we thought one last look at the current generation was in order. Thanks to our friends at Gene Butman Ford in Ypsilanti for letting us spend some time with the car. Keep them in mind if you're car shopping in the area!

For the best video experience, we recommend wearing a good set of headphones. The audio in this video was recorded with binaural microphones that, when played back through headphones, give the feel of 3D sound. Trick stuff.

WINDING ROAD RACING is here, carrying the gear you need to go faster.

Love the fact that this guy doesn't talk your head off. Instead, he lets the car do the talking, so you can can enjoy what you came here to see.

Very nice video! Love these 2014s. The 2015s are nice but I still love the retro cues of these ones. And that V8 sound is just awesome!

My wife just traded in her 2014 Roush RS V6 for a 2014 Mustang GT with track package on it & 6 speed manual. Lucky for me, I'm having to teach her the manual. Unlucky, for me, is that she's learning it really fast. It's a super fast car. To really know the power of these cars, you have to have the 6 speed manual. The automatics get up & go also, but the car controls you, instead of you controlling the car. From v6 to v8 to Boss to Shelby to Roush, whatever you drive, LOVE IT !!! Why, because it's a BAD ASS MUSTANG.

Great vid.  I bought a '14 GT base in February on a whim.  Best decision I ever made.  Stick and 3.73 gears = one beast of an automobile.  I could have bought the car w/o a radio b/c I love to just listen to the damn engine!

I don't know about the rest of you...but imho this is just enjoying the drive and the car.  I love driving my 14' GT w/track pack just for the sake of driving her.  City driving you play in third and fourth.  If I'm relaxed I can keep it in forth and not shift at all for the most part.  This car has torque all through the powerband....but it really wakes up at 4500rpm.  My 08' GT was a slug compared to this car...and it was tuned, CAI, lowered, the works.

This is AWESOME!
Finally, good quality videos of what it's like to be driving one of these cars; where I get a clear view of the gauges & the road and also get to hear the sound of the engine.

I am soooo tired of the videos where you see half of the driver's head, while he is either babbling uncontrollably and/or blasting crappy music.

What camera are you using to film these videos and how do you have it secured to your head?

I got to drive a fellow autocrosser's 2014 Mustang GT with the track pack, Brembos, and Recaro seats during an autocross test and tune day.  I was surprised at how well the car performed.  You could rotate it with the rear end through throttle or via the front end with more steering input.  It understeered a little but was very adjustable with a little throttle.  The car was surprisingly fun to drive, and the suspension was above what I was expecting for an OEM offering.  I'm used to pretty firm setups now after years of autocrossing, and the Mustang with the track pack was more composed than I was initially expecting.  It does need a touch more rear damping though.  If you manhandle steering and aren't cautious with the throttle while doing so, the back end will snap out on you.  You can't go hog wild with both the throttle and steering wheel when handling the car.  The chassis simply isn't that controlled.  A little more damping can tame this a good deal and keep the rear end more planted during side to side transitions.  I'm not sure if the track pack offers adjustable dampers or not.  I think the Boss 302 has adjustable dampers, so if the track pack does, maybe bump up the rear a notch or two to let you toss the car around a little more if you're not much for finesse.  Then again, that wild nature is part of the fun of tossing around this car.

This is one of the few modern cars I've driven that I've actually wanted to own after driving it.  It just has a lot of great qualities.  It's got good styling and presence both outside and inside the car.  It's plasticy, but doesn't look overly cheap.  The engine is excellent with broad power, and the gearing gives you a nice, low first for spinning tires.  The grip isn't really high but is matched well with the power output of the 5.0L engine.  Seats were very comfortable and supportive (Recaro upgrade), and the steering, shifter, and pedal positions felt natural and placed well.  Heel-toe was simple with no fuss, and you could power oversteer all day long if you wanted.  I did wish the bushings were a little firmer on the car as they would communicate more road feel to the driver.  However, for an OEM car, I felt tactile feel was above average.  I wasn't completely in the dark with what the car was doing, but I've come to like stronger driver sensation as it improves your understanding of what the car's doing and makes control easier with no surprises and less input delay.  There was enough feel that the car was pretty easy to drive at the limit, but I was never quite aware of tire bite on the back end.

I am really looking forward to the 2015 model.

Ford makes it very hard for me to make the decision between this and a car that gets 3x the gas mileage.... oh my goodness what a fantastic car.

The noise that turn signal makes would eventually drive me insane. By eventually I mean after the first hour of driving it - unless I was going straight for the first hour.

Every time I see this video, or drive a Mustang with a manual trans and v8, I'm reminded of Steve McQueen in Bullitt. Silly grin on my face....;-)

Just looking at one the road while driving is jaw dropping haha. You should have done a 0-60 and a 60-0 test. I absolutely love the mustang GT.
