I was a teacher from the 90's until last year. I watched LGBTQ become trendy. Fortunately, I also saw most of the kids who claimed to be LGBTQ stop doing it within a year or two. I even asked some of them what happened and they told me it was trendy so they did it but they realized it wasn't for them.

No joke. When I was young, I saw my brothers get into the pool with no shirt so I did too. My mom and dad scolded me and said girls can't go into pools with no shirts. I told them for weeks, I want to be a boy!! I refused to play with dolls, makeup, etc. But really, it was because I wanted to go in the pool with my shirt off. Lol. I am a straight woman with a spouse and baby and do not want to be a boy. Glad my parents didn't listen and let the phase go away on its own.

My grandson's classroom had those "how to" booklets handed out to them WITHOUT consulting the parents.
Very graphic illustrations.
The parents lost their minds.
Apology emails were sent out from the school board saying they were unaware of the contents of the booklets.
Obviously they were lying to cover their asses.

I’m so grateful I went through all my school life with no iPhones or social media. I left high school just as the iPhone 3 was released. Im 32 now and can be thankful I had a healthy natural childhood

20% of kids are LGBFJBIA+ because it's trendy.
When you have teachers telling kids how special they are because they're part of the alphabet crowd, what do you think other kids are gonna do?
They want to be special too.

The numbers vary wildly from study to study, some say only 2-10% of Gen-z are Lgbtq, while some others even say 40%

I'm in Canada and my sister is a grade 4 teacher. They aren't using these books in the classroom. But its a french school, so that may be why. French Canadians are Catholic, and many are very very religious.

I remember a lot of us saying we were bisexual at school when we were 14, 15, 16 just because it sounded cool. I also remember goths and emos pretending to be depressed because that was the youth culture and music they enjoyed.
Teenagers are confused, but you grow out of it naturally, these days they being encouraged to stay confused.

As a teen growing up though these times, all I can say is that kids should be kids, not mirrors and replicating what they see online

As a gay man i feel like i have to apologize to all straight people for this. I never wanted any of this I just wanted people to leave me alone and not give me hell if they find out I’m gay. I’m sorry.

The thing is, teenagers/ young adults are more susceptible to outside influences than ever before. They also are typically rebellious. Even good kids are rebellious. They strongly want to revolutionize the world they're inheriting. They want to become apart of a "tribe." Between the hormonal/ sexual development, independence behaviors, their exposure to social pressures via technology and the meek wavering leaders/ caregivers before them, they didn't have a chance in hell not to get taken hook line and sinker.

When my sister was in middle school, she told me that half her classmates identify themselves as bisexual. I asked why and she said because it’s the new trend.

People treat it as a trend but when you're actually not straight, life becomes more difficult.

The fact that it wasn't accepted earlier and now it is, is the obvious explanation of why more people are identifying as LGBT.

Moreover, why are they or have never been worried about LGBT kids identifying as cis-straight all this time. Why we never had a show on that when LGBT was not as acceptable.

I spoke to 2 female teenagers (family members)yesterday. They said they both feel under pressure to be gay or bi or trans to fit in with others at school. They go to different schools . They have named teachers at school that they are encouraged to go to to discuss if they are gay, bi or trans even if they dont think they are and they are straight. This is in the uk. The teachers are pushing kids towards this. These teachers are also the ones who push using pronouns even if the kids dont have pronouns

Parents need to be around and need to have open conversations with their kids. You dont trust strangers to raise them, and this is the kind of things that happen when you do.

I feel like being gay has always been common honestly, just kept secret now it’s way more accepted therefore more open now
