Everyone has to like you. That's about it. If you got the interview you were good enough to call in. I just got a job after trying to get jobs with organizations that I ultimately did not want to work for. I don't prepare, I just talk to them like real people. They can take or leave me because I know my worth. If the employer is rude during the hiring process or does not contact you with a respectful rejection, bullet dodged. In the end you wind up where you are meant to be, so it is best not to go where you are not meant to be.

If you already have a candidate in mind, you should not waste your time or my time interviewing me.

It's sad how many years we go to school just to have to face another demon after graduating..the job search

1. Age
2. Attractiveness
3. Race
4. Sex and sexual orientation.
5. They do not want to believe who you are through resume, and interview.
6. Have someone already for this position.
7. Overqualified.
8. Non native to English language.
9. Too highly motivated for a job, and company.

Getting a job is matter of luck nowadays.

Never go to an interview with the false sense of confidence that you are going to get the job... You are only going to be upset when you don’t get it.

Hi Don, I just had an interview yesterday that I felt went beyond well. In 24 hours they said I’m no longer considered. The thought of “why not me?” has been bugging me and I admit that I’m really saddened by it. Thank you for this video- it was a nice pep talk and brought insight. Gives me a little more confidence on getting better.

I hate companies interviewing outside candidates when they already have someone inside.

From the start the hiring manager was being rude so when I got an email saying I was denied I wasn’t even surprised her energy was really cocky and snobby I’m bubbly and happy

Don, you always do so great breaking down the situation. It's the worst feeling when you're rejected after an interview that you thought went well. Thanks for sharing this.

It blows my mind how many hoops these companies make people jump through to get jobs that are like lower middle class paying these days. They keep raising the standards, education level, and ridiculous questions you have to answer. Its just a corny performance these days. You can thank the rise of HR for that. Plus, there are times you may even nail the interview but dont get it because they go with an internal candidate but still have to say they interviewed so many people...and put on the dog and pony show even though you never really had a chance in the first place.

Reason #6, “job already set aside for some one” (13:44). This is unfair. I had one like that. I wasted so much time preparing myself, then an insider told me exactly this story of yours. I was so devastated. I let it go, anyway. But this is unfair. That policy must change.

OK, I disagree with reason #1. They did NOT get the job because they were more qualified. They got the job because they played the interview game better. And then they went on to suck at the job.

Also, a lot of these verbally savvy people might get pass the interview process, but once they get on the job, they suck and they show up late.

Getting the job you want is like getting the girl of your dreams... it’s hurts when you find out she’s not interested

I interviewed for Eli Lilly, as medical reviewer, it went so well but the next day they sent a mail that They rejected me. I went neurotic, I was upset, I cried.. but that’s okay, I learnt from this interview. And one day I’ll get into a company far greater and to a very top position. I won’t give up and I’ll keep learning and changing myself no matter what happens. I won’t stop being an improved version of myself. They might have rejected me but they’ll never kill my spirit. I will be number one

The process took over a month, I went to 3 interviews for the same company and told me there would be 1 final interview, before my final interview, I got rejected. I feel so doomed.

Thank you for bringing up the fact that job seekers spend so much time and energy and in just one job interview and then after the process it’s done, they don’t even get a thank you for tour time! It’s not like companies own an explanation but just appreciation. At least that’s what I think…
