Sulu made a GREAT starship Captain. He learned form the best, and learned his lessons well. Plus, Sulu was always a total badass. A good trait in a leader.

The only trek movie I’ve seen where the audience actually cheered when Sulu and Kirk blew up General Chang’s ship. You just can’t believe the sound. This movie was so satisfying and still my favorite one.

Favorite line of any Star Trek movie “Fly her apart then”. I used to just think it was a cool line in a movie. However after losing a very dear friend and realizing there was a chance that on the evening they died that I possibly could have saved them this line takes on new meaning to me. He’s willing to destroy his ship to make in time to save his friends.

I saw this in a theater on opening night, and when Sulu said "target that explosion and fire" the ENTIRE theater roared with approval and gave him a standing ovation.

The helmsman didnt have to tell Sulu the ship would fly apart, Sulu was The GOAT of Helmsmen. He aready knew what the Excelsior could and would do. It was instinctual.
