NASA’s Ingenuity has taken its final bow on the Martian stage. Join us in an emotional farewell to Ingenuity, the remarkable Martian helicopter that captured our imaginations. From its humble arrival on the Perseverance Rover in April 2021 to defying all expectations with an astonishing 72 flights over 34 months, Ingenuity has been a symbol of perseverance and exploration.

In this video, we recount the highs and lows of Ingenuity's journey, from unfolding like a peculiar origami on the Martian surface to enduring dust storms, periods of isolation, and a winter it was never designed to face. We celebrate the achievements, resilience, and the unexpected charm of this tiny helicopter that not only could but did.

It’s amazing how long most of the Mars exploration vehicles lasted.

I share the feeling of sadness, but the feeling of pride when the mission is extended is strong as well!

Farewell to an amazing piece of engineering. This and Voyager 1 are a hard hit. RIP to some of humanity’s greatest creations.

Really sad day, as a drone pilot myself, I'm impressed they flew a drone on another planet and got so many flights out of it!

But I feel with a little more care on rotor design, ie several smaller props caged or ducted in a protective frame, this crash and damage to the rotors could have been avoided, just think how many more flights it could have made?

When Mark Watney gets to Mars, he jolly well needs to bring back some part of Ingenuity!

What a stud. Sounds like a good candidate for a Wall-E 2 biopic

Maybe they can out a few on the next one, seeing as they are fairly small I'd say at least 3,

Still hopeful, that soon, all the units on Mars can start repairing each other; it can be done, with the soecific, designs, programs, and tools, and communicstions❤😊
A lot has been learned from all these inventions; and a lot of brain storming to make next stages for repairs are inspiring

How do you say farewell? Just stop operating it? Blow it up? What does this mean?

Amazing piece of technology. But I'm pretty sure it's not a spacecraft...

Here’s hoping Mark Watney will find that little bug and fix them back at the Hab.

Farewell, Ingenuity, and we thank you.
