Today I share more details of what the last year has looked like; when her spine pain started, and how I knew it was time to let her go.

Rest in peace sweet Mac. You were such a good dog and you will always be loved ❤

You absolutely did the right thing. When there’s no way to treat an illness/injury and things will just get worse and more painful, what else can you do? She had the absolute best life with you. I’m so glad that Tosh is with you, it seems you’re both supporting each other through this. ❤

My heart is breaking for you Steph 💔 it shows the love you have for her because you put her first and saved her from any more pain. The last act of kindness is the most we can do for our beloved pets when the time comes. My pets have always shown me when it's time and it seems like they find their last energy to enjoy the last day with us. R.I.P beautiful girl ❤🐾🌈

After 16 years Mowgli passed next to me at home, naturally. It was a long and controlled process those last six months with lots of vet appointments and personal labor of love at the last week or so. I can’t say what’s better for them. I can only cherish the memories I chose for us both. They are family so do what feels right for yours. God heard every prayer and answered them all. 🥰

It's the promise we make when we get them. You did the morally right thing, which was also the hardest. There are millions out there that vets wish would've made the same choice. You are a good dog owner.

It's always dependent on the circumstances of the illnesses but....there comes a time when they are winding down and they tell you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to you Steph and Tosh. I have a greyhound and dread the day when he has to leave me. Unfortunately it is the price that we pay for the love that we receive from these beautiful creatures.

We had two put down together on the same day - the vet said, which we didn’t know, the other one also had cancer and would only live a couple more months but would miss the other one terribly as she would deteriorate quickly.
I feel so sorry for your sadness - we were heartbroken and said no more - less than a year later we adopted 2 greyhound sisters at 18 months. They are now 4 and we are still waiting for them to turn into greyhounds - so mischievous x

Sorry again for your loss Steph. I still miss my childhood dog. When we sadly chose to put her down because of age and difficulty recovering from getting hit by a vehicle, the vet would not allow us to be with her because he said they didn't need all that emotion, which made it much worse for me. I appreciate you sharing more about your experience because it actually helps me feel a bit better processing grief about my own pup, who was like a sibling, even though my loss was years ago.

It's heart breaking taking that final trip to the vets knowing your beautiful boy or girl isn't coming home with you. 😥
I'm so glad I have my boys ashes in a lovely wooden casket that sits on our fire place. I say good night to him every night. I miss him every day.
Take care Steph.

Sweet Mac. I’m so so sorry for for the loss of Mac. And the comfort of Tosh there with you I hope can help ease that loss. Please know that your videos helped so very much when I had to put my greyhound Silly Millie down. This summer I got Ruby Red and she is a twin to Mac. Red says hello to you guys and we are sending a hug.

Steph, I'm so sorry you went through this. Unfortunately our dog friends don't last long enough, but you had the wisdom to know when it was time. That's always such a hard decision to make. It's easy to see how much you love your dogs.

My 13 year old greyhound is on pain meds for arthritis, saunters where she goes ... no running and only gives slow tail wags. We are just going with the flow and enjoying our time together. We love one another, so it's all good. Thank you for sharing your feelings. I needed to hear this.🙂
