Bruce Lee threw 9 punches in less than 2 seconds in 1972 Fist of Fury, and that wasn’t Bruce Lee’s fastest punch. In the 1972 The Way of the Dragon, Bruce Lee threw 5 punches against Chuck Norris in less than one second.

He was gifted with natural ability and quickness, he also trained very hard to enhance his speed and power!

To get the speed it has something to do with the breathing when throwing the punch.

Bruce Lee real fight so look like I said many times, I want to become the grand martial arts master and I know I can do it with these three militarized MMA fighting styles which by the way, you know, Krav Maga combat Sambo Sanda sanshou I know that with the history, I can be good at striking and grappling yeah, they teach you anywhere in the USA. It only depends on the best teacher.

Kung Fu punches, as for nobody has the speed of Bruce Lee punches my 16 year old Kung Fu student threw 50 punches in 6.3 seconds or 7.93 per second so I has to beat him and threw 50 in 5.8 seconds or 8.62 punches a second and I was 48 at the time so 12 years ago now. It is all about relaxation, speed punching.

No power! Speed is great but no Power!!!

It seems like complete hype, until I see the video of him in a white tank top and the way he unleashes those non contact strikes shows he could put insane power behind that speed. Some of it he's doing a whip, others it's both speed and power.

He’s fast but also pound for pound the strongest. His power comes from his forearms. He’s only 140 pounds but all that weight is from his core, shoulders and lats. Two fingers push up is not for show. It’s training to take out the eyes and if missed won’t injured. In a street fight give or take 20 pounds he will win.

Don’t get around much do you? Obviously Lee had excellent speed, even for an elite martial artist. But there were faster then and many more faster now. Jesse Glover measured Lee’s fastest punch at .05 of a second at three feet. If you do the math correctly, that’s 40 mph, though a writer from WING CHUN NEWS, who obviously flunked math, claimed that was 118 mph and that story was picked up by other outlets that never bothered to fact check it.

Many martial artists and fighters have been scientifically measured at speeds far greater than 40 mph. Just as an example, Australian Taekwondo 5th degree black belt Bren Foster’s kick was measured at 136 mph with 2300 lbs of force. Nearly four times faster than Lee’s fastest punch…with a kick! Also Lee is mostly just flicking his hand out or doing chain punches that were originally developed for blade work and have no body mass or hip rotation behind them.

Even Lee himself publicly admitted that Steve Sanders, then a national level karate competitor, was faster than he was. Facts vs myths.

Cordialement.

i heard 1 time they try to say the video was played at a faster speed to make it seem like he was quick but that BS, in those days the technology was good enough to show things at a faster speed without it being obvious. it would look to fake.
