Another REALLY good vassal is aragon. Once castille forms Spain and you can get a hold on a single province in aragonese spain (either before or after they become castilles b*tch), you can get half of spain and siciliy for basically no AE

If Timurids don't explode, Khosran has cores all the way through their land. Whenever I play in India, I always use either Khosran or Timmy to eat up that area.

Honestly just hard to remember all of them, but here we go. Vassals are good for conversions - Najd/sind are underated in this list.
If you want to feed cores i dont understand how aragon/naples isnt just better than gascony.
Nations with great mission trees are also pretty broken as vassals. Manchu are pretty goot vassals for this reason too.

Probably just use them differently, but you need a reason to get that vassal. And conversion cores and missions are the only reasons for me. Ai is too derpy to fight and trade cities dont really work imo, because they go bankrupt once i go influence and take 100% of their money.

What about Bulgaria? They have 11 cores in 1444.

I like to use Syria when I'm allied to the Ottomans. They'll join reconquest war and defeat Mameluks for me :)

Portugal is not great as a Castilian subject, as you cannot tell them where to colonize. In a recent Castile game I got the PU over Portugal, and Portugal started colonizing the Caribbean, both Bani and Havana. Blocked my Castilian mission tree completely and I had to restart... When I played again I just conquered all of Portugal, plus a few provinces from Morocco, to become full owner of the Sevillan trade node. Also nice because you will have Aragon as PU subject, who you can grow REALLY big by not integrating them but instead having them follow their mission tree. Conquering Portugal will give you some extra force limit to keep the Aragonese in check.

You did not mention Novgorod? They offer great trade and reconquest plus you can force your dynasty on their throne, release them after they have all requirements to form Russia and then quickly PU them for a Russian subject if you want Siberia colonized.

There are other ways of getting Russia as either vassal or PU and I must say that of all subjects I enjoy Russia the most just for the sheer amount of units they will provide. They need a bit of help at the beginning but once they are strong it's just so damn nice.

Delhi is really good. Often, Sirhind will leave them as a 1 or 2 province minor, meaning it's not much AE to vassalise them and then you can feed them half of North India on the cheap with the reconqust CB.

Portugal but with Exploration. a Portuguese subject with Explo will also pick Expansion but not the other way around (actually, they always prefer Explo over Expannsion as their first idea). a subject will never pick Exploration. that's why it sucks as Aragon because you can Iberian Wedding Castile too early and they will only take Expansion.

also we can add bulgaria it has 10 cores in ottoman, galichia-vollhinia in poland, styria in austuria, northumberland in england these for ae reduction but if u want to make a real march then conquer north poland and release danzig or teutonic after it converted to reformed or protestant u can make it form prussia i do this sometimes
